Description of Services: Adult Protective Services (APS) are directed at preventing or remedying neglect, abuse or exploitation of adults who are unable to protect their own interests because of age or disability. APS Services are provided without regard to income or resources. A client must live in Orange County and be the victim of abuse either by self or by another that occurred in the community.

Description of Services: LASOC provides free and low-cost civil legal services to low-income families, individuals and senior citizens in Orange and Southeast Los Angeles Counties. We operate under a three-tier service delivery model. Under this system, our in-house services are divided into 1) evaluation, counsel and advice, 2) pro per clinics and workshops and other self-help services, and 3) direct representation. In circumstances where LASOC may not be able to assist, the following resources are available for consideration: (1) referrals to partnering agencies; (2) self-help resources; and (3) find a community resource agency.

Description of Services: Ombudsmen empower and protect residents of skilled nursing homes, board and care homes, and assisted-living facilities.

As mandated by state and federal law, Ombudsmen will:

- Regularly make unannounced visits to Orange County long-term care facilities

- Mediate and attempt to resolve resident's concerns or problems in facilities

- Provide unbiased placement information and referrals to long-term care facilities

- Investigate allegations of abuse and neglect

- Witness the signing of Advanced Health Care Directives in Skilled Nursing Facilities

- Report serious facility violations to state licensing agencies.

- Keep all complaints, communications, and investigations confidential unless resident gives permission to release.

Description of Services: Safe Options for Seniors at Human Options provides services to individuals 50 years and older, or 18 years and older with a disability, who have experienced physical, emotional, or sexual abuse by a spouse/intimate partner or a family member.

Description of Services: SCLAP provides free, courteous, high-quality legal services to Orange County Residents age sixty and over.
