Students registered in the Library’s ESL and/or Citizenship Guided Self-Study program may borrow peripheral devices, such as DVD/CD/CD-ROM players and typing keyboards to use these materials.

Headsets may be borrowed for on-site use only. For hygiene purposes, we recommend that you purchase your own. Headsets are available for sale at the circulation desk for $1.00.

Learning English Steps 1-2-3 by Video Aided Instruction

For beginning ESL students, from middle school through adult learners. Ideal for those who are new to English, this set provides lots of practice in the basics of listening, reading, and writing.

Learning English as a Second Language by Standard Deviants 

For advanced ESL students, this program focuses on English grammar, punctuation, and the fundamentals of basic writing composition.

ESL Easy English Levels by Video Tutor

Learn basic common English phrases and expressions. Intended for the Basic English learner.

Crossroads Cafe

A series that blends comedy and drama to teach English to speakers of other languages. Each 30 minute episode includes one segment that demonstrates a specific language function and another that explores the social or cultural issues dramatized in the story

Connect with English

Connect with English is a new way for speakers of other languages to learn English. Through the story of Rebecca, an aspiring singer on a journey across America, the series touches on life's important issues: leaving home, parenting, education, work, love, success, and loss. Each episode features dialogue that is slightly slowed down and subtly simplified while still being natural language.

Inglés Sin Barreras

This program focuses on the needs of the Spanish speaker. Spelling and pronunciation are in American English. Instead of memorizing boring verbal conjugations and grammar rules, Inglés sin Barreras gives you real-life situations, with words and phrases that can be used immediately.
