POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC (FF/PM) CENTRAL KITSAP FIRE AND RESCUE

Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue, headquartered in Silverdale, Washington, is currently accepting applications to fill a position for FF/PM. This is an opportunity to work with an outstanding fire district. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the highest standards of personal and professional conduct and be able to demonstrate acceptable experience in the Advanced Life Support arena of emergency services. Candidates can expect to work in an environment that is dynamic and service oriented.

At time of hire, must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license AND have passed a complete background investigation, medical examination, driving record check, employment history verification, and reference confirmation.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The position has a salary of $5441.89 per month for entry level applicants and includes a generous benefits package with a one-year probationary period. This position is assigned to a 24 hour shift schedule

DESCRIPTION OF DISTRICT:

Located in Silverdale, Washington, directly west of Seattle across the Puget Sound, this progressive combination Fire District serves a population base of approximately 70,000 residing within its 115 square miles of jurisdiction. A budget of $17.1 million allows the 77 career, 90 volunteers, and 21 administrative members to offer a full range of emergency services. These services include fire suppression, public education, technical rescue, hazardous materials, wildland–interface suppression, and full emergency medical services for advanced life and basic life support responses including transport. CKFR provides emergency response services from ten fire stations, five career/volunteer staffed stations and five all-volunteer staffed stations. A co-owned administrative campus shared with Silverdale Water District is comprised of two shared facilities and serves as the District’s administrative facility and vehicle maintenance facility. On average, there are 7,000 annual calls for service, with approximately 75 percent being emergency medical responses.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  Preferred: Currently or recently (within the past 12 months) employed within the same EMS region (Clallam, Mason, Kitsap, and Jefferson counties) and have a high school diploma or GED, IFSAC certified Academy completion and Firefighter 1 certification, EVIP certification, valid Washington State Paramedic certification, compliance with all state and Kitsap County policies, procedures, protocols and directives for Firefighter/Paramedics at time of hire.

  Preferred: An AA degree or higher in the field of fire science or a related field.

  Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license.

  Must pass a complete background investigation, driving record check, and employment history verification.

  Must pass a district provided medical evaluation.

  Must pass a proficiency exam with Kitsap County EMS office.
