Intergenerational Dialogue
Children with Heads of Delegations, UN Agencies, Chair of the Committee on the Rights of the Children
1. Date: Tuesday, 11 December 2007
2. Time: 3.00 to 6.00 p.m.
3. Venue: ECOSOC Chamber, United Nations
4. Participants
4.1. Children: A group of 10 children, selected by their peers during the Children’s Forum (the children participating at the CF will be encouraged to attend as part of the public).
4.2. Governments: Add here names of adult (of confirmed participants and/or the titles of those who have agreed to attend)
5. Purpose
· To provide an opportunity for children and young people to engage in a face-to-face dialogue with Heads of Delegations and other leaders on the main themes of the WFFC+5
· To exchange the perspectives and recommendations from the children and young people on the WFFC themes and to seek the support of government leaders to address the concerns and issues presented
· To agree on some key proposals and recommendations on the main themes of the WFFC to take forward in the future
6. Format
· Two children, selected by their peers during the Children’s Forum, will moderate the meeting.
· Moderators will invite participants to briefly introduce themselves
· Moderators will explain purpose and format of the dialogue
· Children will use a set of questions, prepared during the Children’s Forum, to begin the dialogue
· One child will be appointed (by the peers) to be the rapporteur. He/she will summarize the main findings resulting from the dialogue at the end of the meeting.
· Moderators will thank all participants and the public
· Photo Op for media
IMPORTANT: Delegations/missions should inform Victor Karunan at UNICEF () if their Head of Delegation is interested and available to participate in this inter-generational dialogue with the children – preferably on or before 9 December 2007
