Instruction Notes for Adding Text to Adobe Premiere Elements 10

Setup

  1. Have students open files from Adobe Connect page
  2. Explain existing video and audio files

Adding Text

Title

  1. Go to Edit tab
  2. Select Title from choices available for the project
  3. Enter title Change text size to 90 and adjust text box location by selecting arrow pointer and moving
  4. Add another text box (have them resize first it is easier) and have students enter their names

Text Overlays

  1. GO to the spot in the video in which you want to apply text
  2. Pause
  3. Click on text box and enter desired text
  4. Timing of text overlays can be varied by increasing the space they occupy in the timeline. Scroll up to see them

Credits

  1. Drag Fun Credits slide from the side menu
  2. Enter Credits Title
  3. Video Clip

  8. To make the existing credits slide run slower simple stretch it in the time line

Things to be aware of:

  1. This is not a very good text editor
  2. If you click anywhere in the area of the text you will see the framework for inserting the text.
  3. The arrow selection tool is easier to use for selecting text to edit than just clicking because of the layering aspect of the text on top of the video

Archiving your project copies the project and its media into a folder

Uploading and Sharing Your Project

Upload to YouTube/ Facebook

1.  Click Share in the Tasks panel, and click Online.

2.  Choose YouTube from the list at the top. Adobe Premiere Elements uses the Flash Video for YouTube preset for all YouTube files.

3.  Click next and log in to YouTube. If it is your first time uploading to YouTube, click Sign up now and register. Then log in.

4.  ClickNext.

5.  Enter the required information about your project: Title, Description, Tags, and Category; and choose a language. Then click next.

6.  Choose whether you want to allow the public to view your project, and then click Share.

7.  When the share is complete, the location appears in the Share workspace. You can choose View My Video to open YouTube and watch your video, or Tell Friends to send an e-mail about your new posting.

8.  To return to the main Share workspace, click Finish
