INFORMATION FOR EISENHOWER FELLOWSHIPS APPLICANTS

2015 Women’s Leadership Program: OCTOBER 4 – NOVEMBER 22, 2015

Eisenhower Fellowships 2015 Women’s Leadership Program (WLP)

Eisenhower Fellowships exists to inspire leaders around the world to challenge themselves, think beyond their current scope, engage with others within and outside of their current networks and leverage their own talents to better the world around them.

Chaired by General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.), EF brings two cohorts to the U.S. annually, each composed of 20-25 outstanding mid-career Fellows (ages 32-45) drawn from 52 countries. The seven-week fellowship is comprised of a five-week, individually-designed program in each Fellow’s professional field, bookended by a week of group activities, usually in Philadelphia, at the beginning and the end of the program. Each Fellow collaborates with an EF Program Officer to create a unique itinerary that refines the Fellow’s objectives and creates opportunities for productive exchange.

Eisenhower Fellowships is committed to further increasing the representation of women in the network. Following on the success of the 2010 WLP, EF will host a program in the fall of 2015 comprised of approximately 20 outstanding female leaders from around the world.

Fellow selection

We seek Fellows who have the creativity required to take full advantage of this unparalleled opportunity; the ability to articulate clear goals for their program; and a vision of how they will use the experience to undertake consequential outcomes which better their world. Successful candidates display strategic thinking capabilities and have demonstrated the necessary leadership skills to realize their goals.

Fellows are identified by high-level, in-country nominating committees and selected by a committee at Eisenhower Fellowships headquarters in Philadelphia. For more information about EF, visit www.efworld.org. To learn about our Alumni Network activities, visit our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/EisenhowerFellowships.

Tips for applicants

We expect that applicants to invest serious time and thought into the written sections of the attached application, which will weigh heavily in the selection process. When drafting the list of potential meetings in Section 8 of the application, we encourage candidates to suggest some smaller cities and rural areas as all EF itineraries include a variety of geographic destinations.

An Eisenhower Fellowship is a transformational experience leading to consequential outcomes and lifelong engagement in the global alumni network. The better the applicant can articulate clear fellowship objectives and possible consequential outcomes, the stronger the application will be.

It should be noted that Eisenhower Fellowships does not arrange protocol, ceremonial, or celebrity visits (such as Barack or Michelle Obama, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, etc). We do not arrange meetings with a goal to transact business or seek institutional funds. Meetings at the most senior levels can only be arranged if you have pre-existing contacts. Fellowship travel is restricted to the continental United States. Finally, candidates must be fluent in English and capable of conducting complex, in-depth discussions with professional counterparts and other Fellows in English.

Fellowship details and requirements

Eisenhower Fellowships will financially support the participation of a spouse/partner for three weeks of the fellowship period. However, children may not accompany Fellows or their spouses/partners on Fellowship travel. Fellows must agree to return to their country of residence at the end of the Fellowship period in accordance with U.S. law. Each fellowship is designated for a specific time period each year with fixed arrival and departure dates and cannot be deferred or modified (listed above). It is vital that, if selected, you are able to devote the necessary time to prepare for and participate in this seven-week fellowship program.
