-Winners of the 25-Prize Hunter Drawing Announced
Hunters for the Hungry has just received their final processing bills for the 2016/2017 hunting season and can now report that the total pounds donated by Virginia hunters for this past season were 283,198 pounds. Enough venison for 1.1 million quarter pound servings of quality lean meat was donated for people in need. This meat was distributed to local feeding programs in the areas where participating processors are located. The meat is greatly appreciated by these feeding programs and the people they serve. A listing of programs that receive venison is included with this press release. The Hunters for the Hungry program has now topped 25.5 million servings of venison being provided since the program was established in 1991.
For the second year in a row, the program held a 25-prize drawing for hunters who donated deer. For each deer a hunter donated between the opening of the archery season October 1, through the end of the general firearms season on January 7, they were given a ticket to the drawing. Green Top Hunting & Fishing was the official sponsor of the drawing, having donated in full or in part the majority of the prizes. Donors of Prizes other than Green Top are listed by the prize they donated below. Hunters for the Hungry expresses their deepest thanks to all the donors of prizes.
