NOTICE of RACE

1. RULES

1.1 The Herreshoff Classic Yacht Rendezvous & Regatta is a two day regatta governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). The Organizing Authority is the Herreshoff Marine Museum.

1.2 The rules of each of the one-design or metre-boat classes competing, as appropriate.

1.3 For monohull handicap classes, the ratings of the Classic Rating Formula (‘CRF’); and the CRF Regulations, as modified by the Herreshoff Marine Museum for this event (see the CRF Addenda to the Notice of Race) as posted at the Museum Website: http://www.herreshoff.org/events/regatta.html .

1.4 Crew Waiver & Media Release: Competitors participate in this regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authority, its agents, representatives, and sponsors will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

As a condition of entry, each owner, skipper and individual participating crew member shall submit an online liability waiver/media release. The fully executed Liability & Media Waiver Form shall be submitted prior to racing. The Waiver Form link can be found on the Herreshoff Classic Regatta website. A yacht whose skipper has not completed the waiver will not be scored.

1.5 The Protest Committee may impose suitable penalties, other than disqualification, for violations of any non-Part 2 rule. This changes RRS 64.1.

2. ADVERTISING

Advertising is restricted to Category A.

3. ELIGIBILITY, ENTRY & FEES

3.1 The Herreshoff Classic Regatta is open to CRF Vintage and CRF non-Vintage yachts racing under 2015 ratings of the CRF; to Cat Boats rated under CRF; to yachts accepted to race in the Six and Twelve Metre Classes; and to one-design classes including (but not limited to) Herreshoff ‘S’ Boats, Sea Sprite 23, and Herreshoff 12½’ (including fiberglass CCSB Bullseye & Doughdish) yachts.

3.2 Eligible yachts may enter by completing the official Entry Form and sending it, together with the required fee to the Herreshoff Marine Museum. The online Entry and Crew Waiver Forms can be found at: http://www.herreshoff.org/events/regatta.html . Entries must be received by the Herreshoff Museum on or before Tuesday, August 18th, 2015. Entries received after that date may be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Authority and will be subject to a late entry fee of $50.00.

3.3 The Entry Fee which includes two (2) Saturday evening dinner tickets is:

For yachts under 28’ LOA: $ 225.00

For yachts 28’ LOA and over: $ 275.00

4. MOORINGS & DOCK SPACE, EVENT HEADQUARTERS

4.1 Limited dock space may be available.

4.2 Moorings owned by the Museum will be available by reservation on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost per night is the larger of $35.00 or $1.00 per foot LOA. Yachts are encouraged to bring their own dinghy for transportation, as well as to anchor in front of the Museum. The Museum does not provide launch service.

4.3 Event Headquarters is in the Herreshoff Marine Museum waterfront tent.

5. SCHEDULE

Friday, August 22nd

1700 Living Boat Show: Classic yachts are invited to participate in the Living Boat Show on the Museum’s moorings and waterfront on Friday.

1730-1930 Welcome Cocktail Party & Early Registration – Cash Bar.

Saturday, August 23rd

1000 Competitor’s Briefing - under the waterfront tent

1200 Warning Signal for first race. A single race is planned for CRF yachts. One-design classes may have more than one race.

1730 Cocktails - under the tent – cash bar.

1830 Regatta Dinner – See Social Reservation & Meal Order Form to be posted on the Museum Website at: http://www.herreshoff.org/events/regatta.html

1930 Program and Awards

Sunday, August 24th: CRF Classes and the Herreshoff “S” Boat Class will race to Newport.

Sea Sprite class and the Wind Hill Trophy Race will race in Bristol Harbor.

0930 Competitor’s Briefing - under the tent

1130 Warning Signal for classes racing to Newport.

1230 Sea Sprite Class Warning Signal.

1245 Wind Hill Trophy Race – Special race for Herreshoff 12 ½‘s (& Bullseye, Doughdish, etc.)

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Sailing Instructions will be available at the Museum on Friday, August 21st and may be available on the Herreshoff Marine Museum website in preliminary form prior to that time.

7. VENUE & THE COURSES

7.1 The racing area may include Bristol Harbor, Narragansett Bay, and Mount Hope Bay.

7.2 Courses will be set using government and set marks.

8. PENALTY SYSTEM

Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required.

9. SCORING

For any class sailing more than one race during the regatta on Saturday, the scoring will be defined under Appendix A, Low Point except that the scores for all races sailed will be included. A minimum of one race will constitute a series.

10. PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded at the Regatta Dinner on Saturday, as follows:

a. If 8 or more yachts finish in a class – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.

b. If less than 8 finishers in a class – 1st and 2nd place prizes.

c. If 3 or fewer finishers in a class – 1st place only.
