Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman

USS ALWAYS GONE (DDG 81)

Subj: LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION ICO HM2(SW)Baby Doc

It is with great pride and without reservation that I write this letter recommending HM2 Doc for acceptance to Independent Duty Corpsman School.

For over 18 months, HM2 Doc worked side-by-side with me onboard USS ALWAYS GONE (DDG 81). As the Senior Medical Department Representative, I could not have asked for a more consummate professional or attentive protégé. He approached his duties as a manager and health care provider with a zeal not typically seen in junior Corpsmen. He has continued to show what it is to be an effective corpsman by being independent for the past 3 months successfully running the programs on the ship and not letting them fall behind.

It was with HM2 Doc’s goal to become an Independent Duty Corpsman in mind that I fashioned my mentorship. He proved extremely competent and was indeed impressive in his skills as a programs manager and in his acumen in delivering patient care. HM2 Doc has completed all prerequisites to attend IDC School, and there is no doubt in my mind that he will excel.

HM2 Doc is exactly what we’re looking for in our prospective IDCs. With his intrinsic drive and the mentorship provided by the IDCs he has served, success is assured. No doubt a worthy investment in our community, we should accept his today, without delay, and allow him to continue on a path he began years ago; a path to become the ultimate Corpsman…to become an Independent Duty Corpsman.
