Graphic Designer

OVERVIEW

SUMMARY
The Graphic Designer performs various tasks associated with the production of publications, promotional materials and print advertising that visually supports and promotes the school. The Graphic Designer must be a self-starter, one who shows initiative in collaborating with group assignments being discussed and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Graphic Designer serves as a member of the communications team under the umbrella of the Bishop Lynch Office of Admissions/Communications.


JOB DESCRIPTION

· Utilize the Bishop Lynch brand and “design brief” to promote consistency in all print and web-based materials.

· Develop the layout and production design specification for all institutional publications including: Reflections magazine, annual reports, pamphlets, brochures, invitations, flyers, certificates, forms, posters and other publications.

· Consistently update design and graphics on campus displays.

· Think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphics and layouts.

· Employ color, typography, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques when designing each project.

· Design logos and graphics for events, program-specific identity for various systems and website.

· Work with digital communications designers in developing broad collection of video content to support brand and program visibility.

· Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.

· Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval.

· Meet with Director of Communications regularly to collaborate on design.

· Complete projects by coordinating with respective internal departments and follow-through with art services, printers, etc.

· Assist with event photography and photo processing.

· Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies; researching other school and trends.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

· 2+ years’ relevant experience.

· Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, arts or related field preferred.

· Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality.

· Current with industry leading software and technologies (In Design, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop etc.).

· Professionalism regarding time, costs and deadlines.

· Confidence to present and explain ideas on collaborative projects.
