George Ellis Moody

Graveside services for George Ellis Moody of Greenwood, formerly of Greenville, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Vaiden Cemetery in Vaiden.
Mr. Moody, 66, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at the V.A. Hospital in Jackson.
Mr. Moody was born in Drew on March 12, 1942, to George and Allene Moody. He moved to Rosedale at an early age where he attended school and graduated from Rosedale High. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a resident of Greenville from 1972 to 1991, working as a salesman for Woods Furniture Store and Hollowell Furniture Store. He moved to Greenwood in 1994.
Mr. Moody was preceded in death by his father, George Prentiss Moody; his mother, Allene Moody Welch; his stepfather, Reed Welch; and his brother, Michael Allen Welch.
He is survived by two nieces, Mary Elizabeth Welch Brown of Madison and Lee Ashley Welch of New York City; his sister-in-law, Augusta Welch of Cleveland; his special friends and caregivers, Tom Ed Guest, L.C. Ellis and Bonnie Hughes, all of Greenwood; and his great-nephew, William Welch Brown.
The Rev. James Dykes will officiate at the services.
Smith Funeral Home Inc. in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.
