2. Discussion of Level Two vs. Level Three

We continued our discussion of Level Two vs. Level Three and reviewed the

revised statement of requirements. We discussed context, how we represent

existing requirements (such as - what is required to enable a

transcriptionist to utilize CDA, what do we need in CDA to capture the

output of today's structured document editors), how to take advantage of

existing standards (CEN, GEHR, DICOM).

We discussed the grey area - documents with coded sections, and limited

fielded data - such as vital signs - and whether we consider these Level Two

or Level Three. Regardless of what we call it, we'll plan on developing a

vital signs template (as an R-MIM and possibly using some other

representation). We'll explore treating this vital signs template as a CDA

Entry, and indicating the specific CDA Structures (such as the Vital Signs

section) that this Entry is allowed to occur in.

CDA does define a mechanism for wrapping observations in a context. Exactly

what the nature of that context will be (and what attributes it will

contain) will need to be carefully considered, as will the inheritance

rules.Currently CDA structures contain entries, and we have defined a

limited number of entries. We may have more and more entries defined - as

R-MIMs or templates or what-have-you. Advanced levels of CDA will specify

the specific entries that can be used in the various structures. Both

structures and entries can have a context, which if used, are assumed to be

used correctly with assured safety.

Liora will repost revised Level Two and Level Three requirements based on

the discussion.

3. Compound documents:

Awaiting a set of use cases / requirements from Simona Cohen for compound

and successive documents to the listserver.

4. Deferred items:

o Region of Interest :: We'd like to enhance the CDA by enabling the ability

to explicitly reference regions of interest within an image.

o HTML Link types vs. Act_relationship.type_cd (vs. XLink) :: Should we

merge the CDA Link functionality into the Act_relationship class?

o Non-clinical document type (such as consents to view information/privacy,

advanced directives, living wills)

o October meeting planning

Take care,

Bob
