Six Pillars of Character Book
For your major year-long assignment, you will create a book based on one of the Six Pillars of Character. They are the following: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. Your book will consist of a designed cover, table of contents, pages of specific pieces focused on your chosen pillar and a page with picture that describes you. Please follow the given outline to ensure success of your assignment.
· Design Cover – Should include the title of your book and illustration to depict your chosen pillar.
· Page 1 – Table of Contents
· Page 2 – Poem: Find a published poem that illustrates your pillar.
· Page 3 – 9/11 Writing Assignment: You have written an essay about how one of the six pillar was displayed and how it was lacking during the attacks on 9/11. This is to be included in your book.
· Pages 4 and 5 – In a book report, summarize a book you have read that relates to your pillar.
· Page 6 – Editorial: Pretend you work for a newspaper. Write an editorial in which you encourage people to live by your chosen pillar.
· Page 7 – TV Show or Movie Review: Write a review of a TV show or movie and relate it to your chosen pillar.
· Page 8 – Biographical Sketch: Research the life of someone who in some way has exemplified your chosen pillar. Write a brief biography.
· Page 9 – Song Lyrics: Write the lyrics to an existing song that relates to your chosen pillar.
· Page 10 - Newspaper or magazine article: Find a newspaper or magazine article about someone or a group who demonstrates your chosen pillar.
· Page 11 – Top – ten List: Make a list of the top ten ways to demonstrate the Six Pillars in your everyday life.
· Page 12 – Journal entry: Write one journal entry about a time when you or someone you know demonstrated your chosen pillar.
· Page 13 – Brochure: Create a small brochure that explains the Six Pillars to someone who is not familiar with this way of expressing ethical values.
· Page 14 – Interview: Conduct and write out an interview with an adult relative asking what your chosen pillar means to him or her.
· Page 15 – About the Author: Write a paragraph or two about your interests and future plans for years to come. Write this in 3rd person and include a picture.
· Page 16 – Works cited page: Indicate on this page your sources for your book.
