The train of eternity that goes from earth to heaven has twelve cars and 365 seats.
On the sunny morning of April 24, 2009, William boarded that train in Wrentham, Massachusetts. He found comfort in the fourth car in the 58th seat and rode non-stop to glory.
In lieu of flowers, please make a gift of love to the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation in the name of William Ketchen
ALL MY LOVE TODAY AND TOMORROW
Until you came into my life
I never really knew
That I could care for anyone
The way I cared for you
And little did I realize
How happy I could be
Until I fell in love with you
And you in love with me
ALL MY LOVE TODAY AND TOMORROW
Obituary
William Bernard Ketchen
June 5, 1950 – April 24, 2009
William Bernard Ketchen was born in Boston, Massachusetts (Roxbury) to John F. and Frances (Upchurch) Ketchen. He was the youngest of two children. William was a graduate of Boston English High School where he excelled in track and field. He attended Cleary College in Ypsilanti, Michigan and completed HVAC coursework at the Peterson School in Massachusetts.
On July 20, 1991, he was joined in holy matrimony to Ms. Martine Ortiz in this sanctuary. His unselfish love and devotion to her provided strength throughout their marriage. William worked as a Storekeeper for the Massachusetts Department of Correction. Those who knew him agreed that he always had kind words for those who needed advice and exuded patience with all whom he came in contact with.
William accepted Jesus Christ as his savior early in life and always professed God’s love for him. In spite of life’s many obstacles, William’s faith guided him throughout his life. It always gave him peace of mind and a positive outlook by spreading a message of love, hope, and good cheer to everyone he knew.
He is survived by his wife, Martine, his sister and brother-in-law Ruth and John Jemison, nieces Leah, Lori, Linn Jemison, and great-nieces Sharmaine and Anya Jemison; three brothers-in-law Gregory and Douglas Hemphill, and Jeffrey Ortiz, a sister-in-law Carmine Bentine’, nieces Tyeis and Lorisee Bentine’, and nephew Lawrence Bentine’. He is also survived by two uncles, Arthur Upchurch (Pauline) of Ocala, Florida, Edward Upchurch (Annie) of Atlanta, Georgia, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Family’s
Expression of Appreciation
Perhaps you sang a lovely song, prayed a faith-filled prayer or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you send beautiful flowers, balloons or a teddy bear. Perhaps you send a card, a text, or an email or spoke kind words, as any church family member or friend could say. Or perhaps you were not there at all; just thought of us that day. Perhaps you paid for or prepared some tasty food or maybe provided a car. Perhaps you rendered a service unseen near at hand or from afar. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so much, whatever the part. We pray that God will bless you exceedingly more than you will ever imagine.
