Honoring of Caregivers of Native American Children

in King County

HONORING THE CHILDREN’S CULTURE & HERITAGE

The State of Washington DSHS/CA celebrates in partnership with the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation to honor families.

In this celebration of the children’s culture and heritage there will be 3 different caregivers who will receive prestigious awards;

1. The Caregiver of the YEAR award is for those caring for children in state custody who have a unique charm, are innovative during the impossible tasks, have distinguished themselves with effortless advocacy for our children, and provided assistance to the children unlike any other.

2. The WARRIOR Caregiver award is for caregivers who have cared for numerous children in foster care, have assisted with permanency for children and have worked in partnership with the department to provide good quality care.

3. The NEW HORIZON award is for caregivers that have done some impressive things with children and succeeded in helping a child.

The department is honoring caregivers who work tirelessly to assist the children with their educational goals, health needs, or cultural identity development and also provided them exposure to different multi-cultural activities.

The children’s program will consist of storytelling, cultural activities, basket weaving, beadwork, sand painting and more. The participants will be provided Native Food for lunch and the opportunity to see the following special events;
