Rene Hofstede's Dutch heritage comes alive in New York City with Mille Fiori, his exclusive Floral Design Studio.
Rene Hofstede has floral design in his DNA. Trained in Holland, the flower capital of the world, he was raised on a flower farm, where for three generations his family pioneered horticulture. When Rene decided to bring his creative genes to New York Cities’ floral district, his first client was Armani. Clients such as Oprah, Sex and the City, Donatella Versace, HBO, and Saturday Night Live, followed fast.
Mille Fiori has been written about in Modern Bride, In Style magazine, New York Magazine, Elegant Bride, the Hamptons magazine and The Washington Post to name a few. His expertise ranges from designing gorgeous individual bouquets to creating floral fantasies for fashion shows, corporate events and family occasions no matter where it will take place. Rene frequently travels within the States and beyond to orchestrate his clients’ events that sometimes span several cities simultaneously.
Designing an event is unique each and every time, according to Rene. He starts by finding out the circumstance and recognizing which flowers and visuals are appropriate for the affair. Once he has gathered his ingredients he starts to develop a design concept that is both edgy, suitable for the occasion and pushes the envelope on the architectural scale of the space. “I would call it assertive design, I would hate to have someone recall a party but not recall its’ floral design or even just the feel of the room!” Rene creates entire spaces this way, commanding everything from blooms to linens to lighting to create an experience for all the senses.
Reflecting the richness of his roots, Rene is known for his gracious designs, vibrant colors and personal service. His signature arrangement is a mix of lush, seasonal blooms, densely packed to create a beautiful arrangement of fragrant flowers. Color, shape and texture reverberate within each creation. His arrangements are designed in a variety of floral containers, such as silver polished aluminum planters, square glass vases or brightly colored ceramic tapered pots in seasonal colors.
