2010 Scholarship Award Application

PURPOSE:

To recognize an outstanding student in the Filipino-American community for academic excellence, leadership involvement, and community service.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicant must:

1. Be a high school junior or senior at an accredited institution in the Greater Atlanta area.

2. Be of Filipino descent.

3. Be of a child of an active member of the Filipino-American Association of Greater

Atlanta.

4. Have excellent scholastic achievement as evidenced by Grade Point Average (GPA)

Score.

5. Exhibit good leadership and citizenship.

SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION & RULES:

Applicants will be judged on their overall academic achievement, leadership qualities, extra-curricular involvement, and community service. Judging will be done primarily from the application forms and documentation submitted, but the scholarship committee shall have the discretion of requesting a personal interview. The scholarship recipient will be designated as the 2010 Fil-Am Scholar.

The scholarship will be in the form of a Thousand Dollar ($1,000.00) grant to be awarded at the Fil-Am’s Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, June 12, 2010. The scholarship recipient and the parent(s) are required to be present at the awarding. The Fil-Am Scholarship recipient will be announced on Saturday, April 24, 2010.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURES:

One copy of the application form, official high school transcript, SAT or ACT records, short essay, and any other supporting documents are to be postmarked no later than April 17, 2010. Please mail completed application to:
