GENERAL INFORMATION

The Delaware County Farm Bureau is awarding $3,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors for 2016. The scholarship awards will be presented at the Delaware County Farm Bureau 2016 Annual Meeting to be held in August. Two types of scholarships are available. The Agriculture Scholarship is available for students pursuing a degree in agriculture. Two scholarships will be awarded at $1,000 each. The Friend of Agriculture Scholarship is for students pursuing any other type of degree. One scholarship will be awarded at $1,000.

The Delaware County Farm Bureau will select recipients from the applications that meet the mandatory criteria. A scholarship selection committee, appointed by the Delaware County Farm Bureau Board of Trustees, will evaluate the scholarship applications and present their recommendations for the awards to the Board for approval. From the applications, the committee will evaluate each candidate’s academic performance, activities, and agricultural involvement where applicable.

The committee reserves the right to schedule an interview with the applicant(s) if the committee deems it necessary to do so in the decision-making process.

Financial need does not enter into the selection process and financial information is not requested for the scholarship application.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION GUIDELINES

There will be two types of scholarships awarded:

1) Agriculture Scholarship (2 @ $1000)

This applicant must be pursuing a degree in an agriculture related field

2) Friend of Agriculture Scholarship (1 @ $1000)

Students pursuing all types of degrees will be accepted for this scholarship.

· Applicant must be a member of the Delaware County Farm Bureau when applying for the scholarship, or have a parent or guardian who is a Delaware County Farm Bureau member.

· Applicants must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend a college or technical school

· High School cumulative grade point average : at least 2.50 - 4.00 or better

· At least one reference must accompany the applications. No more than two additional references may be submitted; please make necessary copies using the enclosed recommendation form.

· Applicants must submit a copy of their “fee paid” receipt or an acceptance letter from the university, college or technical school they will attend or where they are currently enrolled.

· All applicants must submit an official high school academic transcript.

· Transcripts only may be faxed to the Delaware County Farm Bureau office at (614) 771-8339.

· Scholarship applications must be delivered or postmarked no later than June 1, 2016.

· We will accept neatly hand written applications but it is strongly recommended that all applications should be typed. Applications can also be requested / and submitted via e-mail:
