FCCLA Member Entrepreneurs Awarded $2,000 in Grants

and an Experience of a Lifetime

FCCLA members win national contest for a trip to Domino’s Headquarters and private workshop with top executives

[Reston, VA] – October 19, 2017 – Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members Faith Novak from Appomattox, Virginia, and Carissa Witt from Brookings, South Dakota, were selected as winners of a nationwide contest to attend a three-day entrepreneurial leadership experience at Domino’s Headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan, inclusive of a workshop with Patrick Doyle, CEO, and his executive team.

From October 16 to October 18 at the “Domino’s Transformation Experience” powered by AdVenture Capital, ten lucky student entrepreneurs were selected for an all-expenses-paid leadership experience to meet with top Domino’s executives, as well as to get an exclusive peek inside the Domino’s Test Kitchen.

Earlier this year, AdVenture Capital and Domino’s teamed up to ask students age 13-17 to submit an idea to transform healthy eating in their school or community for the chance to win a $2,000 grant to bring their idea to life and an amazing, one-of-a-kind experience.

Faith Novak and Carissa Witt were introduced to AdVenture Capital through their participation in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), an organization that strives to provide such opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and career preparation. FCCLA’s national programs and Competitive Events provide opportunities for students to learn about the importance of healthy eating and acquire the skills necessary for such competitions.

Faith and Carissa were two of the ten winners selected to spend three days with the Domino’s executive team, learning about project development, entrepreneurial and leadership skills, and building out a plan to implement their idea when they return to their school.

AdVenture Capital is a social entrepreneurship program of the child health & wellness nonprofit GENYOUth. Conceived in 2013, the program is open to students ages 13-17 across the country and provides funding, resources, and the support of business mentors to help students cultivate and implement ideas that improve access to healthy foods and physical activity. Through the process of thinking and acting like entrepreneurs, students develop 21st century skills that help them to succeed in school and in life.

This is the second year of the “Domino’s Transformation Experience” powered by AdVenture Capital. Domino’s has awarded $20,000 to support winning ideas and project implementation.
