Event Gives Local Students Free Assistance Filling Out

Financial Aid Forms

College Goal Sunday helps students get the money they need to attend college

WHO:

The national College Goal Sunday program was created by the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association with funding from Lilly Endowment, Inc., and with supplemental support from Lumina Foundation for Education. College Goal Sunday is a program of the Y-USA.

In Kansas, College Goal Sunday is a nonprofit event coordinated by the Kansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (KASFAA) and other interested and dedicated volunteers. This annual event is supported by funds from USA Funds; YMCA of the USA; KASFAA; and the federal College Access Challenge Grant, administered by the Kansas Board of Regents.

WHAT:
College Goal Sunday in Kansas helps students get the money they need to attend college. Students will receive free help from financial aid advisors filling out the required Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the first step to apply for federal aid. One student at each of the 22 locations will receive a $500 scholarship to any college or trade school in the country. (Scholarship recipients must be a first semester freshman in the fall of 2012)

WHY:

According to The College Board, the average 2010-2011 tuition increase was 4.5 percent at private colleges, and 7.9 percent at public universities. College Goal Sunday makes applying for financial aid easier. For more information and to register, visit www.CollegeGoal.org.
