The Engineering Geologist is the one who has the responsibility to supervise the performance of the Engineering Geology work. There are many other duties attached to it such as reviewing the plans that conform to specific ordinances which deal with earth and soil stability. It is also necessary to work as a superior officer. The job calls for someone who ahs required amount of knowledge in the practices and principles of engineering geology. He or she needs to have the knowledge of grading the techniques and methods and soils mechanics.
Duties and responsibilities
There are the following duties and responsibilities which are expected to be fulfilled by an engineering geologist:
· The main responsibility is to assist and supervise in the review and examination of lot splits.
· It is very necessary to be a part in the subdivision of maps.
· He or she has to do the grading and prepare the building plans accordingly.
· He or she has to prepare the budgets and determine complete compliance with geological and engineering requirements.
· He or she needs to perform the work of the grading and drainage policies and requirements and soils mechanics.
· He or she has to perform the effective field investigations properly.
· It is needed to monitor the concerned subdivisions in reference with the structural stability of existing excavations.
· He or she needs to address all types of drainage, soils and geological requirements.
· It is also necessary to carry out the accomplishment of the special projects.
· He or she has to complete the project based upon the engineering geology and prepares corresponding reports.
· It is needed to create and revised ordinances with regards to grading and other related areas.
· It is very necessary to work as a supervisor for the subordinates and assistance for providing solution to difficult issues.
· He or she has to take part actively in the meeting to help in the planning and Subdivision Committee in the capacity of an advisor.
· It is also needed to act as an engineering geology consultant for the legal enforcement of ordinances in grading.

· He or she should have the ability to understand the grading, geological and drainage requirements.
· He or she should be able to review data and reports properly.

· The ability to supervise and review staff work.
· He or she needs to have the ability to work as a representative to represent the department at Boards and Commissions meetings.
· The person needs to have the exceptional interpersonal skills to establish effective and harmonious work relationships.
· He or she should be bale to work with the collaboration with the developers, property owners, engineers and contractors.
Education and Qualifications
· The person must be registered as professional and licensed engineering geologist.
· He or she should possess a valid Class C Driver’s License to do the job.
