Picasso project application 2016-2017

The Picasso Project provides grants of up to $5000 to under-resourced Philadelphia public and charter schools, making it possible for teachers to use the arts to bring instruction to life. We support creative projects, proposed by schools that have promise for enhancing arts programs, provide arts resources for schools and spark student interest by integrating arts with other core academic subjects.

Eligibility Guidelines:
·  Philadelphia public and charter schools are eligible to apply.
·  Schools that have received consecutive grants in 2014, 2015 and 2016 are not eligible to apply for a 2017 grant, but can re-apply in the following year.
·  Other than public and charter schools, no entity that receives a tuition or contract related payment from the Philadelphia school district or Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is eligible to apply.
·  Proposals must be for projects that occur during the school day at the school.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
To maximize the impact, your school’s proposed project may afford different levels of participation for different groups of students. Preference will be given to projects that provide an intensive arts experience to at least 30 students (or 20 special needs students.) For purposes of this grant opportunity, an intensive arts experience is one that affords students hands-on, personalized engagement in professionally-guided arts activities for a minimum of 20 hours over the duration of the project.

PROJECT LEADERSHIP TEAM
The Project Leadership Team includes at least three staff members (not including the principal) who will work together to plan, implement, and document the success of the school’s project. Project Plan: Describe in detail the proposed project plan. Please include: Project goals (what the school and students will gain/learn), method for implementation (what will students do), assessment method (how will you measure success). Do not exceed 2500 characters.

Arts Integration: Explain how this project will be integrated through curricular instruction to engage students and enrich learning outcomes. Do not exceed 1000 characters.

Documentation: How do you plan to document the progress and impact of your project? (e.g. Photos, written accounts, social media, etc.) All documentation should be shared with the Picasso Project. Do not exceed 1000 characters.

Sustainability: (Note: consult your Principal or School Leader) How do you plan to sustain this project/program or its impact beyond the grant term? ARTS ADVOCACY: Spreading Awareness about Arts Education

Our grantees are required to participate in advocacy for arts education as a part of their project. (see examples in application guidelines) If this is your first time advocating for arts education, PCCY will help by providing free training sessions for grantees as well as additional support as needed.
