Satellite / The satellite is used for important personnel whom have a relationship with other productions across the world from them to pass on relevant information that the offices share. For example, between the executives employed in London and the head office back in the US often being the most significant factor in how the satellite operates.

Cable / For big and small productions, the use of a cable is important. You must know all health and safety implications for wireless and traditional cables. You must be able to repair, know how to use them, and maintain them.

Analogue / Analogue links to a display on the video/programme that receives and shows television signals that are sent through technology, this is similar to those transmissions used in the radio.

Digital / TV has gone digital. In 2012, analogue TV signal was switched off and replaced with a new, stronger digital TV signal, allowing almost everyone to receive digital TV through an aerial (Freeview).
Digital television uses less broadband space, there is more room for new things, e.g. wireless broadband, local TV, and high definition television.

Film-based / Films/movies that are basically adapted to television shows and that are based on television shows. TV didn’t create movies, however movies realized that TV audiences were worth tapping into. For example, Superman, Batman, Spiderman, these are all classic popular examples.

Interactive / Interactive television allows what you watch to go into a database. This is called your TV set’s “click stream”, and it can be analyzed to have an image of who you are and what motivates you (sometimes called “telegraphics”).

Internet / A global connection around the world, big and small. The internet. The name comes from ‘interconnected networks’. 1969, the Internet has grown from four host computer systems to tens of millions. The internet is growing and expanding each day into even more clever technological resources.

High definition / High definition gives you clear, crisp and vivid images and colours, and up to five times more detail than standard definition television broadcast. Examples of high resolution, such as from programmes currently offered by Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat.

Consumer products / Consumer products manage high merchandize and global licensing for television. Third-party home entertainment distribution, entertainment consumer products, musical soundtracks, interactive and mobile gaming, special markets projects are all examples of sources within consumer products.

Streaming content / Audio/video file on the Internet that is downloaded and then played as the rest of the file is being downloaded. Live streaming is the method of constantly sending and receiving content over the Internet. Youtube, tubidy, online radios, are all examples of streaming contents.

On-demand viewing / On demand it viewing television as you wish to view it. It has other features that analogue/digital view does not have. You can record TV programmes, catch up on them, re-wind and fast forward live television, you can watch things online, such as ITV player, BBC iPlayer, Channel 4OD.

Digital recorders / The merchandising term ‘personal video recorder’, is a electronics device or application software that records video in a digital format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card or other mass storage device.

Pay per view. / Audience can buy programs to view through private telecast. The broadcaster shows the event at the same time to everyone ordering it. Programs can be purchased using an on-screen guide, an automated telephone system, or through a live customer service representative. Programs often include feature films, sporting events and entertainment.
