Exhibition Dates: February 25th-April 2nd
elise mankes studio, a new art gallery in Marblehead, MA is looking for submissions for its first show of 2006, erotik neurotk: Looking for love, sexual and sexually oriented submissions, by some means ‘off’ or deviant. Subtle or overt sexuality with a unique perspective which relates to the neuroses in all of us; obsession, fixation, perversion, etc. Submissions should encompass both themes, connecting them with the artist’s unique expression.
Erotic: sensual, sexual, surreal, fantasy, amatory, desirous, longing, love, adoration, hatred, devotion,
desire, caress.
Neurotic: phobic, fixated, obsessed, irrational, perverted, corrupted, fetish.
Open to all media, including, 2-D, 3-D, sculptural works, photography, mixed media, fine crafts and experimental works. Deadline for Submissions is February 3rd. Show dates are February 25th –April 2nd. Please email with ‘erotik’ in the subject box for an application and further details
Eligibility: Open to all artists over 18 years of age. Open to all media, including, 2-D, 3-D, sculptural works, photography, mixed media, fine crafts and experimental works. All work must be original and have been completed within the last five years. Entries will be accepted from slides or preferably digital image files burned onto CDs (jpegs please).
Exhibition Timeline:
February 3rd: Deadline for submissions
February 6th: Acceptance notification by email
February 17th: Deadline for delivery of work
February 25th: Show opens
February 25th: Opening Reception, 6-9 pm
April 2nd: Exhibition Closes
April 3-10th: Deadline for Return of Work

Submission Checklist:
PCD-R disk with jpeg images: Label the disk with artist’s name, title, medium, price, year and dimensions of work. Please use appropriate packaging so that it does not get damaged, and return postage.
POR, Slides: Label each with artist’s name, title, medium, price, year and dimensions of work. Please indicate
top of slide. Please include a S.A.S.E.
PEntry form, filled out and signed
PARTIST’S INFORMATION: An artist’s statement and resume. A brief bio is optional.
PA self–addressed stamped envelope (S.A.S.E.) for notification if you do not have access to email.
PA $20 entry fee for 3 images. Additional images are $5 each. Artists may submit up to 5 images.
Acceptance Notification: All artists will be notified by email by February 6th. Artists without email access will be notified by regular mail via their S.A.S.E.
Accepted Work: All 2-dimensional work must be ready for hanging. Please either label on the back or attach artist’s name, title, medium and price. All accepted artwork must remain on display for the duration of the scheduled exhibit.
Shipping: Accepted work must be received by February 17th. Works must be sent in re-usable crates or containers. No peanuts, please. Accepted entries must include the return cost of mailing (pre-paid mailing labels or postage). If you don’t understand this, please contact me. Work that arrives damaged may not be exhibited, so please pack very carefully and PLEASE INSURE YOUR WORK.
Delivery/Drop Off: Any artist wishing to drop off their work, please contact the gallery. I will arrange several dates and times depending on the needs of the accepted artists.
Pick Up of Exhibited Work: TBD
Sales & Reproduction of Artwork: The gallery’s commission is 30%. elise mankes studio reserves the right to reproduce accepted works for publicity purposes, including but not limited to promotional materials, the general media, and websites.

The Gallery is located in Marblehead, MA in Old Town, across the street from the harbor, in a little cul-de-sac between Selman and Circle Streets. The building is the former location of Hendrick Manufacturing, (now situated in Salem) which had been empty for 25 years before we discovered it in 2004. Our landlord graciously agreed to renovate the building, which has been ongoing, and we set out to turn the space into a combination of Gallery and studio/office space. Just under one year later, on July 16th, 2005 we had our inaugural show.
