Edward Lee was born in 1985 in England. He obtained his Bmus (Hons) and MMus with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and was a Finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary for Young Singers.
His opera roles include Alfred Die Fledermaus (J.Strauss), Albert Albert Herring (Britten), Le Prince L’amour pour trois oranges (Prokofiev), Lenia Eliogabalo (Cavalli), Monsieur Vogelsang Der Schauspieldirektor (Mozart), Eusabio L’occasione fa il Ladro (Rossini), Sellem The Rake’s Progress (Stravinsky), Monsieur Triquet Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky), Kashchei Kashchei the Immortal (Rimsky-Korsakov), The Lover The Maiden in the Tower (Sibelius), Charles Edward, Inquisitor II & Cosmetic Merchant Candide (Bernstein), Raleigh Merrie England (German), Polidoro La Finta Semplice (Mozart), Aeneas & Sailor Dido & Aeneas (Purcell) und Acis Acis & Galatea (Handel).
Edward Lee also appeared as Spoletta Tosca and Dritte Diener Capriccio for Grange Park Opera and Don Ottavio Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva Il Barbiere di Siviglia und Beppe I Pagliacci for the award winning Opera Up Close. He has worked with British Youth Opera, Aldeburgh Festival, English Touring Opera and Buxton Festival Opera.
His contemporary opera roles include Second Attendant A Full Moon in March John Harbison with the Lontano Ensemble, Adam The Diaries of Adam and Eve Josiah Moore at the Grimeborn Festival, Demetrius Dream MacKenzie-Thurley (an adaption of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Purcell’s Fairy Queen) Odysseus, Paris, Goddess and Soldier In the Belly of a Horse Rachel Leach for English Touring Opera, and he sang in a Public Masterclass with Mark Anthony Turnage for Opera North.
Edward Lee has a busy concert diary. Works performed include Tenor-Solo Les Noces Stravinsky at LSO St. Luke’s and touring France including Auditorium Saint-Germain, Paris and Opera de Rouen with the Guildhall Sinfonietta, Mozart’s Requiem with The London Mozart Players, Haydn’s Creation under Sir David Willcocks and Handel’s Messiah. He has also appeared in recital in the UK, Hong Kong and Bangkok, and he was a Guest-Soloist last year for a New Year Opera Gala Tour of China with the Orchestra of St. Paul’s, Covent Garden.
Recent and future plans for Edward Lee include Filch The Beggar’s Opera Britten for European Opera Centre and The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, he was a Buxton Festival Young Artist 2013, where he sang Podesta La Finta Giardiniera Mozart, and he performed Mikhail Laika the Spacedog Hepplewhite for English Touring Opera at the Artsdepo, London, and the Armel Festival at Szeged National Theatre, Hungary, and Avignon Grand Opera, France. Edward joined the Stadttheater Pforzheim in November as a principle artist, where his roles include Zsupán Gräfin Mariza Kálmán; Wilhelm, Cochenille, Pitichinaccio, Frantz Les Contes D'Hoffman Offenbach and Steppke Frau Luna Lincke.
Edward will sing Pedrillo Die Entführung aus dem Serail Mozart, Freddy My Fair Lady Loewe, Tenor Solo Carmina Burana Orff, Anthony Sweeney Todd Sondheim and Pong Turandot Puccini for the 2014/15 Season.
