Dutch Carwin Memorial Legacy of Leadership Award

Mr. Carwin spent 33 years teaching, but spent a lifetime as a builder of people. His impact will live on in each and every one of his students, and the numerous people he met along his path of influence. It is that same spirit that lives within countless FFA advisors and members across the state.

The Dutch Carwin Memorial Legacy of Leadership Award will be awarded annually to a deserving FFA member who has gone above and beyond the call of their leadership role to help build fellow FFA members and community members. It was not uncommon for “Dutch” to take the single freshman with little experience, but immense quantity of heart and develop them to their full potential.

Aside from academic achievement and technical skill, this award is purely focused on the legacy that Mr. Carwin left: growth of an FFA chapter, starting with the members itself. The recipient will be a person whose strong moral character and values allows them to constantly put others above themselves, and nurture the ability of members in the chapter to become leaders.

This award will consist of a plaque and a $100 cash award to the winner.

To nominate someone for the award, fill out the enclosed application and return it to the State Advisor by April 15. It must be filled out completely and will then be judged by the State Officer Team.
