Dear Parishioner

I’m looking back at last May’s newsletter and thinking it has been a difficult year for the farming community, difficult in unemployment terms and a difficult time for Church. What strikes me in the midst of all the upheaval is the strong faith of our people and the encouragement that you give.

A great deal of activity and work goes on in the parish. Our Parish Pastoral Courcil (PPC) have put together an information leaflet entitled ‘Welcome to our Parish’ which you will receive with this newsletter. The Parish Liturgy Group have been involved with many Liturgies during the year – Christmas, Easter, Lent, Advent, November Mass for deceased of ’09 and other celebrations in both Churches. The Parish Finance committee have overseen a great deal of work that has been undertaken on our Church buildings and grounds.

I’d like to welcome our new Readers, Eucharistic Ministers and Altar servers. Congratulate those who received First Penance and First Communion and thank their parents and teachers. I would also like to thank all who hosted Station Masses which I have really enjoyed. We wish all who are sitting and those preparing for examinations well. There will be a special Mass for them on Friday 4th June at 8pm in Derrinagree Church.

The Area Pastoral Council (APC) which has representatives of Millstreet, Rathmore, Boherbue, Ballydesmond and ourselves has gotten off to a good start. They organised evenings of reflection for Readers and Eucharistic Ministers which were well attended. At present a small group is working on Baptism preparation for parents and godparents. We are also looking into ongoing formation for adults in their faith and a celebration for our Altar Servers.

I hope this gives a flavour of the many happenings both in Parish and Pastoral Area.

To all who help in so many ways – Thank you.

May God bless and keep you and yours

Yours sincerely

Liam Comer
