· The clinic at Northridge has a geriatric clinic that treats individuals with dementia related problems, including Alzheimer’s disease.

· An interpreter can also be scheduled on a case by case basis if the request is made ahead of the appointment. / · Mental Health Outpatient Services provided by CAPS include short-term individual counseling. CAPS uses a brief treatment approach when seeing students in psychotherapy. Duration of therapy is generally in the 6 to 10 session range with the goal of rapid stabilization. Efforts are made to assist students in returning to the level of functioning required for them to successfully carry out their academic work.
· Referral to alternate clinic sites or to psychotherapists within the local community for individuals for whom CAPS services may not be appropriate.
· Group therapy sessions related to specific topics are also offered.

· Confidential, short-term counseling services are provided to UVA students, as well as individuals in the surrounding community by first year master’s students and doctoral degree candidates in counselor education. People typically seek counseling at the PCDC for personal growth or development, as well as when they experience problems associated with career-life planning, interpersonal and family relationships, coping with life transitions, grief/loss, anxiety and depression.
· Individual therapy is usually between 6 – 8 sessions typically. All sessions are videotaped for training purposes only and destroyed at the end of each semester.
· Testing and Assessment by doctoral or advanced master’s level student sin Counseling may assess interests or personality in adults. Assessment services also include other forms of psychological evaluation. All sessions are confidential and usually last one hour.
· Referral to appropriate agencies for individuals for whom PCDC services are unsuitable. / Appointment times may vary slightly but typical ones are:

During the intake, the counselor will help clarify the immediate issue(s) which brought you to the center, determine if the Women’s Center can meet your needs.
· Short-term, confidential individual, couples and/or group counseling services are offered to UVA students, staff, faculty and alumni as well as members of the Charlottesville community. The counseling staff is composed of second year master’s students and doctoral degree candidates in counselor education.
· The number of counseling sessions, type and length of the sessions vary based on client needs, but typically 10 sessions seem to be helpful. All sessions are audio-taped for training purposes and destroyed at the end of each semester.
· If one’s needs cannot be met by the Women’s Center, the counselor will help connect you with the appropriate agency. / Appointments can be made Monday – Friday
between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
