Directions for Running Non-Windows XP Software Programs on Windows XP Computers

o If the software won’t install:

· Double Click “My Computer”

· Right Click on D: (where “D” is the CD Drive)

· Choose “Open”

· Right click on the install program (it should be called “setup.exe” or “install.exe”)

· Choose “Properties”

· Click the “Compatibility” tab

· Put a check mark in the box next to “Run this program in compatibility mode for.”

· Then select “Windows 98/Windows ME” from the drop down box.

· Click “Apply”

· Click “OK”

· Double Click the install program that you just modified and setup will start.

· Setup as usual

Software is installed but won’t run:

· Right Click on the program shortcut(s) that the install created.

o There should be one on the desktop and one in the start menu

· Choose “Properties”

· Click the “Compatibility” tab

· Put a check mark in the box next to “Run this program in compatibility mode for.”

· Then select “Windows 98/Windows ME” from the drop down box.

· Click “OK”

· Start the program using one of the shortcuts that you modified
