Job Title: Learning Resources Centre Assistant and Moodle Support
Reporting to: Library/ Learning Centre Co-ordinator

1. Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of the role is to provide cover for the Learning Resources Centre helpdesk in the Learning Gateway in conjunction with the Library staff. The role includes assisting students with basic IT queries such as help with general Office applications, the addition of print credits to accounts and reporting of technical faults to the IT team. The role also includes assisting/supporting staff in the management and use of Moodle (the College Virtual Learning Environment).

To be directly responsible for assisting staff with uploading documents and resources to Moodle and to upload/maintain resources on the shared areas of the Moodle site.

2. Duties and Responsibilities:

a)  Administrative work involved in maintaining systems to support users in the Learning Gateway.

b)  Liaise with ICS to maintain LRC resources and equipment, reporting faults as required.

c)  Provide help and support to individuals using the Learning Gateway.

d)  Provide basic IT admin support to students, including but not limited to, print credit top-ups, resetting of passwords, producing student ID cards.

e)  Ensure that the Learning Gateway provides a welcoming and appropriate environment for study.

f)  Assist with the organising of assessment of students and the recording of student activity, where appropriate.

g)  Ensure LRC users maintain a positive level of discipline and behaviour whilst using the LRC facilities.

h)  Support and assist staff with the use and management of Moodle (the College Virtual Learning Environment).

i)  Liaise with teaching staff to develop and co-ordinate the use of Moodle.
