DENVER BRONCOS QUOTES (6/8/17)

PUNTER RILEY DIXON

On how he wants to improve after his rookie season last year

“Just working with coverage team. Net [average] is as much of a coverage team accolade as it is for punting. Those guys got there every day and earned it. Just working with those guys and just trying to be the best punter I can be while putting them in the best position to make plays, and put the team in the best position to win football games. Every year is the same goal; just working to be the best punter I can be.”

On how his offseason was different than last year

“The goal for me is still the same every day. It doesn’t matter if I’m competing against somebody, or two people, or three people, or whatever. I’m just trying to be the best punter I can be. Like I said, just trying to put the team in the best position to win football games. That can only happen on my end if I’m doing my part, and that’s to be the best punter for this team.”

On what Special Teams Coordinator Brock Olivo brings to the team

“Brock is an awesome dude. He is super hands-on. He’s been really awesome with us. He’s just getting a feel for us as we are getting a feel for him. I think we’re blending really well. I really like what he is doing for this team.”

On the rookie returners

“Those guys are killing it out there. I’m excited to see what they can do. All of them—just speed. Returner is such a unique position on the field. Being able to do so many things. As a punter, I understand that punting to guys like [Kansas City Chiefs WR] Tyreek Hill, and trying to keep the ball away from a guy like that, changes your punt gameplan completely. To be able to put other teams in that position by having a threat back there is incredibly important. These guys are doing an unbelievable job. I’m excited to see what they can do.”

On Olivo’s passion for special teams

“He’s the best. That guy has some energy. To see somebody who cares so much about it, as much as we do, because so many times, special teams is overlooked by some coaches. Or they don’t have the passion that us specialists have for that position or for that part of the game. To see a guy as much fire and energy that he has is awesome and it’s really motivating for us to work for a guy like that.”

On Assistant Special Teams Coach Chris Gould

“Chris works with us a bunch especially as a punter. He’s been in the position before so he knows. He is able to relate through us to Brock the things that we’re feeling or we think. I think it’s a great relationship with those two guys leading our pack. I really like working with them.”
