Experience Summary:

I’ve been a programmer, database designer, and system designer for over 18 years. I’ve been working with web based technologies since 1994. Although I’ve worked for some large companies, my projects have mostly been working alone or in very small groups. I’ve learned to be self sufficient and innovative in order to consistently deliver more than is expected.

Work examples

At Sun Service Worldwide Quality I created a data warehouse derived from about 20 different databases (Oracle, Sybase, dBaseIV, and flat files). Merging these different sources without any data commonality was a real challenge. Real time reliability metrics were reported via internal web pages complete with graphs generated “on-the-fly”. All this work was done in native SQL, ksh, and applix.

The entire Wherewithal product is written in PHP. An example of the product in action is at http://www.xoron.com. Signup as a CO at http://co.wherewithal.com to see the tools interface. An extremely sophisticated JavaScript and Dynamic HTML implementation is at http://www.xoron.com/catnav.html (requires IE 5.0 or better).

In 1995 I created the first web site for the American Kitefliers Association (http://www.aka.kite.org). Much of the site still reflects my original design. The Event Calendar pages at http://www.aka.kite.org/cgi-bin/aka_calendar.ksh are done with some extreme awk and ksh coding. And the Festival Competition Results pages at http://www.aka.kite.org/comp.html reflect a marriage of custom Visual Basic code and Unix cgi code.
