Course Description
This interactive workshop teaches participants how to experience and apply whole-brain learning strategies using Specialized Brain Gym® exercises and introducing Building Block activities. These activities develop the foundation of complex motor planning and help to integrate sensory input within the brain/body system.
Geared to people of all ages and abilities, this conference is suggested for anyone who works with individuals with special needs. Direct supporters, families, teachers, therapists, and clinicians will acquire techniques they can use daily with the individuals whom they support.

Instructor
June Smith, OTR/L is an occupational therapist and licensed Brain Gym® instructor. She has certification in Sensory Integration and Neurodevelopmental Treatment. June has more than 30 years of experience working with children and adults who present with a variety of physical, cognitive, and behavioral challenges that impact learning. June has worked in residential and vocational settings and currently works at South Shore Therapies Sensory Integration Clinic. She works closely with Developmental Optometrists to promote visual efficiency. She has taught Brain Gym® 101 as well as Brain Gym® for Children Who Have Special Needs, a four day course. There are only five people in the world certified to teach the extensive 4 day course. She is mentored by Cecelia Koester.
Audience
This workshop will be of special interest to direct supporters, families, teachers, therapists, clinicians, and all team members.
Contact Hours
This workshop meets the criteria for 6 contact hours. Certificates of attendance will be given to all participants who complete the workshop as required by many national, state, and local licensing boards, and professional organizations.
Overnight Accommodations
A block of rooms is reserved for this workshop at a reduced rate at the Comfort Inn, Danvers, MA (1 mile to workshop) for April 3th, 2014. Directions to the workshop from the Comfort Inn: Leave the driveway and turn left onto Dayton Street, drive 1.4 miles and take the fifth right onto Hogan grounds. Signs and balloons will indicate the Recreation Building parking lot. Park there. Go into the Recreation Building and proceed to the auditorium.

Directions to Hogan Regional Center, Hathorne (Danvers), MA
From Route 495: North and Southbound exit onto 114 East toward Middleton. Proceed on Route 114 for approximately 9 miles to Middleton Square. Take a left at the light onto Route 62 toward Danvers. Go one mile to intersection (Bouchard’s Gas Station on left and Dunkin’ Donuts on the right) and turn right onto Gregory Street. Proceed ½ mile and turn left onto Hogan grounds. Signs and balloons will indicate the Recreation Building parking lot. Park there. Go into the Recreation Building and proceed to the auditorium.
From Route 95/128 Northbound: Exit 44 Route 1 North in Peabody (signs will be for Danvers and N.H.). Take Route 1 North to the Route 62 West (Middleton) exit and continue on Route 62 for approximately ¼ of a mile. Turn left at the lights and follow signs for Hogan. Proceed to auditorium as underlined above.
From Route 95 Southbound: Exit 50 Route 1 South – take Route 62 Middleton exit and continue on Route 62 briefly to the lights. Turn left at the lights and follow signs for Hogan. Proceed to auditorium as underlined above.
