SITE FURNISHINGS – COR-TEN® STEEL
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. Section Includes: Manufactured Cor-Ten® Steel planter pots.
1.2 SUBMITTALS
A. General: Submit in accordance with Section 01330 Submittal Procedures.
B. Product Data: Submit Form and Fiber Inc. technical product data for Cypress Cor-Ten® Steel planter pots.
C. Submit following Informational Submittals:
1. Qualification Data: Manufacturer’s qualification data.
1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Single Source Responsibility: Provide architectural Cor-Ten® Steel planter pots from one manufacturer with consistent fabrication and finish.
1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Comply with manufacturer’s requirements.
B. Transport, store, and handle Cor-Ten® Steel units in an upright position, avoiding rubbing, scratching, or dragging of unit base on concrete or substrate.
C. Remove pallet/crate strapping and wrapping IMMEDIATELY upon delivery of units to site to avoid marring of surface finish.
D. Use equipment and methods for transportation, site handling and installation as recommended by manufacturer.
E. Storage:
1. Store units off ground, preferably on a wood pallet, and in manner to prevent physical damage, including rubbing, scratching, or denting of finished surface.
2. Place stored units in a singular upright position and according to manufacturer specifications.
3. Store so that singular units are accessible and undamaged.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURER

2.2 MATERIALS
A. Steel: Cor-Ten® Steel to be certified ASTM A606 Type 4.
1. Thickness/gauge per manufacturer.
2. Internal reinforcement per manufacturer.
B. Sealants:
1. Inside Sealant, cold galvanized or bituminous asphalt emulsion coating along all seams and welded areas only.
2. Outside Sealant: suitable for ferrous metal. Clear, matte, UV stable, breathable.
2.3 FABRICATION - GENERAL
A. Fabrication:
1. Fabricate Cor-Ten® Steel units with close control of dimensions and details per manufacturer design.
2. Reinforce units sufficiently, per manufacturer's design.
3. Provide optional drainage hole according to manufacturer specifications.
B. Pre-Weathering:
1. Removal of mill scale per manufacturer.
2. Finish selection:
Option 1) ____ initial flash for on-site weathering; finish is raw and beginning oxidation, no developed patina and no exterior sealant applied.

Option 2) ____ pre-flashed and weathered; finish achieves an advanced level of oxidation with a developed patina finish and clear coat exterior sealant applied.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine deliveries upon arrival at site to verify each unit is without damage.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. General:
1. Comply with manufacturer's written installation instructions.
2. Install units without damage to shape or finish. Damage includes chips or cracks in exposed-to-view areas.
3. Do not install damaged units, except as approved by Architect.
4. Repair [Replace] damaged units.
5. Set units level, plumb, square and true within allowable tolerances.
6. Install units in final locations and in arrangements, as indicted on Drawings.
3.3 ADJUSTING
A. Adjust each concrete planter pot so that units are in proper location and orientation.
B. Drainage holes cannot be added to units in the field and must be fabricated during casting process.
3.4 CLEANING
A. Clean dirt or blemishes from surface of exposed units.
B. Wash and rinse in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
C. Protect adjacent surfaces from damage due to cleaning operations.
D. Do not use cleaning materials or processes which could alter character of exposed finishes.
