Picture Book of the 3 Little Pigs. / Students write and record a retelling of the 3 Little Pigs. / In same partners, students write a retelling of the 3 Little Pigs from the Retelling Questions.
The retelling is to be no longer than 1 minute in length. (Have a Kagan Timer or the timer on the document camera going for a reference point.)
There are 3 options for retellings.
Beyond: Students would form the characters, setting, and necessary props out of clay. Students will then use the Continuous Capture Option in the Aver + Software to create a “claymation” sequence capturing pictures (scenes) to do the retelling.
A setting option would be about a 3 minute time span with 20 second intervals. (Please see attached notes.) Students would be required to have 8-10 scenes to retell. (Students would read their retellings while doing the continuous capture, but will record sound later.)
After students have recorded their 8-10 pictures, they will import them into Windows Movie Maker. Students will then use the Narration feature on Windows MovieMaker to complete the retelling with audio.
On-Level: Students will create paper cut-outs of characters, setting, and necessary props. Students will then use the video camera Option in the Aver+ software to move pieces in and out of the screen area. While moving the pieces, students will be reading their already written retelling. (Students will have 1 minute or less to complete recording.)
Approaching: Students will choose 5-8 pictures from the picture book to go with the already written retelling. Students will mark those pictures will sticky notes to make them easily accessible. One student will read the retelling, while the other turns to the picture pages to accompany the retelling.
