Course Description

Driver Education is designed to develop a positive and safe attitude in the overall development of the teenage driver. General driving knowledge and safety driving practices will assist a young driver and their ability to handle every day driving and any problems that may occur. Individual driver simulation is included with this course.

Units

  1. Introduction to Driver Education
  2. Welcome to the Road/Simulator Driving
  3. Safe Driving/Driving Emergencies
  4. Responsible Drivers

Materials

1.  Each day you are expected to be prepared with the following materials:

  1. Notebook or loose leaf paper
  2. A 3 Ring binder or folder
  3. Pen or pencil

2.  Please bring all papers, worksheets and handouts to every class

3.  No text book will be issued to you. Please do NOT leave classroom with a text book.

Attendance

1.  You are expected to be in class each day. Involvement in class discussions and activities is important.

2.  If you are absent, you are responsible for finding what was missed and making up the required work

3.  Cutting class results in a zero (0) for any work completed that day

Homework

1.  Outside reading or writing activities will be assigned periodically

2.  Late, incomplete or missing assignments will result in a zero (0)

Grading

1.  Grades are determined on a 40/40/20 scale (40 for each of the quarters and 20 for the final exam or project). Points are accumulated from quiz/test scores, class participation, in-class assignments, simulator driving and home work.

2.  Plagiarism: check the guidelines in the student hand book

Classroom Procedures and Rules

1.  Students should work on only driver education related materials during class time

2.  Students should always be courteous to class mates and visitors (speakers, teachers, administration, etc.)

3.  When leaving the classroom for any reason, students must sign out and sign back in upon return

4.  Lateness is not tolerated

5.  Please remove all hoods, music devices, cell phones, etc and put away before the bell to begin class rings.

6.  All procedures and rules listed in the student handbook also apply in Driver Education
