Poster submission guidelines BACP Research Conference May 2018
Counselling changes lives: research that impacts practice
Submitting a POSTER
Submission deadline: Friday 3 November 2017
Poster presentation information
The academic poster format presents a piece of research in a pictorial and eye-catching way. A poster should give the viewer a clear indication of what the research is about and should convey the specific elements of the research undertaken. Posters will be displayed as closely as possible to where delegates meet for refreshments, space permitting. Each poster presenter will be given a one-minute slot within a special poster session to introduce their poster in order to attract interest to it. Poster presenters should also have a handout available (in addition to the abstract). Further references, literature reviewing and detail about your methodology should be put in your handout.
All posters should be in place at the conference before 8.30am on the Friday of the conference and should remain in place both days until the close of Conference at 5.00pm on the Saturday. If you are unable to erect your poster on the first morning (or the evening before) please call the research office so we can make alternative arrangements with you). Poster presenters must be available on the day they are scheduled to present their poster to the entire conference audience.
Please take the tips for posters into consideration prior to preparing your submission.
How should your abstract be structured?
Abstract length is limited to one A4 sheet, with a maximum word limit of 350 of the author’s own typed words and may be written in the third person or the first person, depending on the specific methodological approach taken in your research. Margins must be 2cm for both left and right and 1.7cm for top and bottom and Trebuchet MS font size 11. All abstracts must be accompanied by a completed submission form (below). In addition to your abstract, you can supply references on a separate sheet and these will be noted and kept for distribution should there be follow up requests.
Please view a copy of the 2017 abstract booklet to ensure abstract structure.
Submissions involving multiple authors: All correspondence will be via the lead author. Abstracts will carry the contact information of the lead author, if more than one presenter is listed.
