Students and Parents,
Thank you STUCO for the fun dress-up days to promote Red Ribbon Week! The random acts of kindness notes were a special touch. On Friday we celebrated our Collegiate Academy honor roll students. Thank you Ms. Cunningham, Mr. Cavanagh, parents and students for a great celebration of hard work and mental toughness. It is November! The semester will be over before you know it. Parents, please check in with your students and discuss their college grades. CA want EVERY student to earn an associates for FREE!
Our students are doing a good job of wearing their TCC ID, but we can’t let down. TCC police are sending you back if you do not have your ID on you. Keep up the good work!
Also, as a reminder, CA is in session November 21 – 23. It is imperative that your student attend classes on those days. College classes generally do not allow make-up work and missing class can result in being dropped by the professor.
GCISD College, Career and Financial Aid Night
GCISD College, Career, and Financial Aid Night will be this Tuesday night, November 1 from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Grapevine High School. It is important for students to attend and explore their opportunities to complete their college degrees. Juniors should especially attend since they will soon need to begin applying for colleges and financial aid. There will be two financial aid presentations that evening. A Midsummer Night’s Dream
This Sunday, October 23, the cast and crew of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will meet at Collegiate Academy to rehearse for the play with Mrs. Haney and Professor Devlin. We hope you all will join us for one of the performances on November 17, 18, or 19.
VAST (Valuable After School Time)
This past Wednesday we kicked off our partnership with VAST on Mustang Drive. Our students worked with the VAST students picking up trash and learning about keeping the community clean. CA students will be volunteering once a month at each location. Sign-up to volunteer with Sierra Oguzhan or in the CA front office.
Collegiate Academy Basketball
CA basketball just keeps on winning! We beat TCC South 2 times this past Thursday and are set to play Burleson this Thursday night. Let’s go undefeated Phoenix!

Reflections Contest – Last Day to submit is October 31
Feeling creative? Express your artistic talents through the PTA’s Reflections program! Create theme-based artwork in dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography or visual arts. The theme this year is “What Is Your Story?” Rules and entry forms are available in the office. Pick up your packet from the Collegiate Academy Office today! Friday Study Hall
Friday Study Hall is not optional, it is part of the Collegiate Academy school day. Students must be passing all classes with a 75 or better to receive the privilege of leaving at 1:30pm. If students are not present and do not have a doctor’s note it will be an unexcused absence with consequences. This schedule is meant to support student learning and make sure every student has academic success. Opting out is not permissable. Work is not a valid reason. Businesses can not ask students to work during the school day. The Collegiate Academy school day ends at 4:25pm Monday – Friday.
Parents, your student will know on Wednesday if they have to stay for Friday Study Hall. Please check with them for the earliest notification. Parents can always check their students grades on Skyward to know their current averages. CA will send a reminder email on Thursday for the students that are to stay on Friday. Remember, when we all work together students can achieve more than they ever thought possible. Thank you for your support.
Inclement Weather
Collegiate Academy inclement weather procedures differ slightly from GCISD procedures.
1. If GCISD is closed; Collegiate Academy is closed
2. If TCC NE is closed; Collegiate Academy is closed
3. If TCC NE closes during the school day, then Collegiate Academy will close
4. If GCISD closes during the school day, then Collegiate Academy will close

Weather conditions may occur which make it necessary for the schools in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD to be closed for the safety of students and staff. GCISD closely monitors weather and road conditions when inclement weather is forecast. In the event of bad weather, we must consider the safety of all 13,400 students when making decisions about school closures. GCISD administrators work closely with local police, fire and emergency management experts and will determine school delays or cancellations based on the safety of all students district-wide.
