CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

Be Respectful: Every student has the right to a safe and secure classroom; you do not have the right to impede or jeopardize that in any way. Be respectful of yourself, your environment, your fellow classmates, and your teacher. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Be Responsible: Recognize your own role in building a fun and productive community of learners. Understand there will be consequences, both good and bad, for your actions.

Be Safe: Think about where you are and with whom you share space. We must guarantee against harm or injury to another. Think. Ask yourself, “Is it worth it? Would I want this done to me?” I will not tolerate, nor should you, any behavior that takes away from the safety of this classroom, and neither will the school.

Be Cooperative: Time and again, you will be asked to do something that you may not like or think is useful. Be mature; work through it. You may find that “getting there” is half the fun. Our world demands that you work well with others and requires skills you CAN possess and CAN acquire that you may not value at the time. Think—choose wisely.

CONSEQUENCES

The following are consequences for not complying with class expectations:

1. Warning/Withdrawal of Privileges

2. Student –Teacher Conference

3. Parent Contact

4. Teacher / Team Detention (1 hour) or 2 Days of Lunch Detention with Parent Contact

5. One Hour After School Detention with Parent Contact

6. Office Referral

NOTE: SEVERE OFFENSES WILL BE REFERRED TO THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL IMMEDIATELY.

TEXTBOOKS

All students will be given a supplemental textbook to keep at home. Information on how to access to the online textbook will be available in the coming weeks. Additionally, we will be utilizing the book Sciencesaurus 6-8 as a class resource. This book may be purchased from Rainbow Resource, Amazon, or other online retailers if you would like a copy at home. Purchase of Sciencesaurus is not required for this course.
