Classroom Crime Scene Sketch Activity - 5 member group

Materials: graphing paper, 50 ft tape measure, ruler, protractor, pencil

Purpose: Use the techniques practiced in class and discussed in your notes to create a scaled crime scene sketch.

Procedure:

Day 1 Part A. Rough Draft

1. Use the measurement materials to measure the perimeter of the room (walls), the windows, the size and placement of the table and the chair.

2. Measure the placement of the crime scene evidence in the following manner:

Body - rectangular coordinates method

Weapon- compass point method

Boot - triangulation coordinates method

Day 2 Part B. Scaled “Map”

1. Use the measurements from your rough sketch to make a scaled drawing of the crime scene.

2. Include a legend/key that identifies the 3 key pieces of evidence, a scale, a compass, and an Investigator label.

Each member of your group will draw a portion of the crime scene.

Team Member Assignment:

A room perimeter, doors, and windows

B desk and Investigators label

C body and scale

D boot and compass

E weapon and legend
