Full Citations

You must be able to…

· Complete a citation for a book, given a picture of the book’s cover and publication information

· Complete a citation for a website (either whole site or article—you will have to decide based on the information given), given a screenshot of that website

**You may use your yellow sheet to complete these

**Citations MUST include proper punctuation: periods, quotation marks, italics, etc.

In-Text Citations

You must be able to…

· Correctly cite a given sentence from a book

· Correctly cite the sentence using ellipses

· Correctly cite the sentence using brackets

· Correctly cite a sentence containing dialogue

· Correctly cite a sentence ending with ! or ?

Citation Sandwich

You must be able to…

· Label the parts of a citation sandwich and list the information that should be given in each part

· Label/ annotate an example of a citation sandwich

· Explain why the citation sandwich is importantà what does it help you do?

· Explain the purpose of each part of the citation sandwich

· Explain why you should NEVER end a paragraph with a citation

Works Cited Page/General Knowledge

You must be able to answer the following questions:

· What goes in the top right-hand corner of the Works Cited page?

· What title does the page get?

· How is the title formatted?

· How are sources ordered on the page?

· How do you order sources that don’t have an author?

· What do you do with articles (a, an, the) if they are the first word of a title?

· How do you indent the entries on a Works Cited page?

· How do you space a Works Cited page?

· Do you list any source that you have read but not cited in the body of your paper?

· What is the relationship between the in-text citations and the Works Cited page?

· Do you have to cite a paraphrase? Does putting source material in your own words magically make ideas your own?

Relating In-Text Citations to Full Citations

You must be able to…

· Show what you would put in parentheses if you were to make an in-text citation for several different sources on an example Works Cited page

· In so doing, demonstrate that you understand the relationship between an in-text citation and the full citation
