Chelsea Leigh Krammes was born on February 19, 1987 in Indianapolis, Indiana to her parents, Mary and Mike Krammes. Three years later the family welcomed a new member in her brother, Evan. The family then moved to Crown Point, Indiana, where Chelsea has lived almost her entire life. Chelsea’s life changed drastically when her father unexpectedly passed away when she was seven years old. This event changed and shaped Chelsea’s life in a major way. Through the loss and sadness she felt from losing her father, Chelsea always keeps in mind just how precious life is. Chelsea lives her life remembering nothing in life is certain and you must live each day to its fullest and never take your family and friends for granted. Through her mom’s second marriage, Chelsea also has two younger sisters, Sophie and Gracie. Chelsea feels that her family is the most important thing in her life. Chelsea’s also extremely proud of her personal relationships; she has many amazing friends and a wonderful boyfriend. Chelsea cherishes her family and friends more than anything and puts them before herself at times because when you care about someone that much, she feels that is how you show it.

Chelsea’s most rewarding accomplishment in life is getting accepted to Purdue University’s Visiting Student Program at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Spending a year in New York City was the most exciting and fun time of Chelsea’s life. Although she greatly missed her family and friends back in Indiana, she had a life-altering experience discovering the city and studying what she is passionate about. Chelsea also feels extremely fortunate to have gotten to spend the year with one of her very best friends and fellow CSR 309er, Kristen Uminski.

While in New York City, Chelsea had the opportunity to complete two internships. Her first internship was at Fuse TV as a styling assistant. This was the first time Chelsea worked for days completely independently, which helped her work ethic increase. After that Chelsea worked as a Public Relations Intern at Stuart Weitzman. This experience taught Chelsea how to be a more organized and become a proactive person. Although though Chelsea misses New York greatly, she is happy to be back at Purdue to enjoy her senior year with all of her best friends. Knowing she only has a limited time left in college, Chelsea is trying to have the most fun as possible and make amazing memories.

In addition, Chelsea is also proud of what she has accomplished in her many activities. She is actively involved in her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, where she served as the Vice President of Membership Development. In addition, she is a member of the Purdue Retail Organization, College Democrats, and spends time volunteering. Chelsea loves animals and hopes to have more time in the future to spend time volunteering at an animal shelter. Also, Chelsea looks forward to adopting a dog from a rescue shelter after graduating from college. In her everyday life Chelsea attempts to constantly have a cheerful and optimistic attitude. Although times can become difficult, it is important to remain optimistic and see the future opportunities that lie ahead. Chelsea admires the quote by Max Ehrmann from The Desiderata, “With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.” Chelsea hopes that she leads and positively influences the people around her with a cheerful attitude and outlook on the world.

In May 2009, Chelsea will be graduating from Purdue University with a degree in Retail Management. Chelsea has been spending a large amount of time searching for a job; however she is unsure of what exactly she wants to do. It is important to Chelsea to be happy in whatever she does and wherever life takes her. Therefore, she is looking for a job that not only meets her financial obligations, but also provides her with personal fulfillment. Whatever may happen in the future, Chelsea plans to bring her upbeat attitude wherever she goes and live her life with complete and utter passion.
