Well, these days the clothes have changed, but the idea is about the same.

And three of the nation’s finest chamber music groups can be found right here in Nebraska.

(VO) Music students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln work on some last-minute details before a recital.
(SND) We have a performance coming up. Tomorrow evening we’ll be doing part of the chamber music fest put on by the school of music.
(VO) The students rehearse under the discerning ear of UNL music professor John Bailey.

(VO) A professional musician himself, Professor Bailey is in tune with the challenges his students face.
(SND) … if I’m in the trenches with my students, so to speak… I’m doing the same kinds of things that I expect my students to do and it keeps me very honest and very humble.
(VO) UNL’s School of Music is home to three nationally-recognized chamber music groups… the Moran Quintet, the UNL Brass Quintet, and the Julliard-trained, Chiara String Quartet.

(SND) Teaching is so important for us. I think it helps us grow as musicians.
(VO) Finding that perfect harmony between teaching and performing not only makes for beautiful music, but also for better learning.
