Job Description Summary

The Project Director of Educational Talent Search is responsible for the overall management, strategic program planning and supervision of program staff.

Job Responsibilities

· Provides leadership and direction to the Educational Talent Search Program and maintains the integrity of the Department of Education and College guidelines/policies to ensure grant activities are in compliance;

· Manages all aspects of the daily operations of the Educational Talent Search Program by assisting students ages 11 through 18 in gaining admission to post-secondary/vocational institutions;

· Oversees program administration including budgeting and program implementation; effectively plans, authorizes expenditures and monitors budget;

· Establishes and maintains working relationships with area secondary schools, post-secondary educational institutions, and community agencies to assure cooperative referrals and coordination of recruitment activities;

· Assists in the selection and provides training, supervision, performance evaluation and development of staff;

· Conducts project and program marketing and public relations activities for advocating the purpose and success of the program with students;

· Conducts site visits to the targeted educational institutions to observe and assist advisors and instructional staff with curriculum presentations, participates in field trips and college visits;

· Develops project proposals and reports to monitor the Program's progress;

· Coordinates and reviews all aspects of the identification and selection process of participants;

· Evaluates the Program's activities to assure consistency with stated purpose and compliance with the U.S. Department of Education regulations;

· Oversees the grant's long-term goals relative to college readiness and completion by serving on appropriate committees and establishing purposeful initiatives and partnerships;

· Coordinates the work of the Program with other TRIO projects;

· Attends meetings, conferences and workshops for professional development; and,

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

This position is a 100% federally funded grant position.

Required Qualifications

· Master’s degree from an accredited institution;

· Proven history of understanding and use of current practices in providing outstanding customer service; and,

· Demonstrated ability to:

ü work cooperatively as a member of a team and in a professional manner

ü relate to a diverse student population

ü communicate effectively orally and in writing

ü problem solve, make decisions, and manage conflict

ü utilize computer software (Word, Excel, etc.)

ü respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse organization

ü develop, implement and evaluate educational programs

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with educational support or outreach programs, such as TRIO programs and/or experience in other public service agencies;

· Knowledge of career exploration, the college application process and the financial aid process;

· Successful grant-writing experience; and,

· Experience with supervision and budget management
