BREASTON PARISH COUNCIL

SIX SHORT WALKS AROUND THE FOOTPATHS OF BREASTON VILLAGE FOR SUMMER 2014

All walks begin at 10.30am and start from outside the Parish Council meeting Room on Blind Lane with each walk lasting about 1½ hours unless indicated otherwise.

Walk 1 – Wednesday 9th April

Footpaths to Draycott via highest point in Breaston. Returning via alternative route.

Walk 2 – Wednesday 14th May

Footpaths and old canal to Risley via Risley Saddlery. Return via Risley Park and Cottage Farm. (Approx 1 ½ - 2 hours)

Walk 3 – Wednesday 11th June

Footpaths behind Firfield School to visit the Golden Brook Lagoon Nature Reserve to meet Richard Spowage from the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust for a guided visit. Retrace path back to Blind Lane.

Walk 4 – Wednesday 23rd July

Coffin Walk including new railway bridlebridge and visit Wilne Church. Tower visit or a walk round lake then retrace paths to Blind Lane. (Approx 2 hours)

Walk 5 – Wednesday 20th August

Footpaths to Sawley Dales Estate then Eaton Farm return via Harriman’s Drive and paths back to Blind Lane.

Walk 6 – Wednesday 24th September

“Back by popular demand” Footpaths to Draycott to call at 49 Lime Grove for coffee and cakes in aid of MacMillan World’s Largest Coffee Morning . Return via part of coffin walk.
