Books on the Economics of Sustainability

Natural Capitalism: Creating the Next Industrial Revolution

Hawken, P., A. Lovins & LH Lovins. Back Bay Books; 1st edition (December 1, 2008)

The 'theory' behind this has its supporters and detractors, but I like this book primarily for the real examples cited on how firms have made meaningful changes. I do think that the ideas in this book are part of the solution.

The Last Stand: The War Between Wall Street and Main Street over California's Ancient Redwoods

Harris, D. Sierra Club Books (March 25, 1997)

A great read on the story of Pacific Lumber.

Elkington, J. Capstone Publishing Ltd (September 1, 1999)

One of the original readings on the triple bottom line - discusses measurement and how firms can use the TBL to become more 'sustainable'.

A nice simple analysis of the sources and uses of energy, and a very practical discussion of the use of alternatives.
