Beginning Students
· Topic: Hobbies / Sports
· Objective: to talk about hobbies
· Materials: overhead of „Gern Oder Nicht Gern“ exercise, copies of communicative exercise chart „Spielst du gern ...?, construction paper, crayons
A. Hallo Lied & Regeln (3 min)
· Sing Hallo-Lied together. Sing twice.
B. Body Parts wiederholen (5 min)
· Sing Kopf, Schulter, Knie, und Fuss and/or play Simon sagt.
C. Hobbies (15 min)
· Introduce hobbies by acting out the different sports/hobbies. Show overhead with the different sports/hobbies and repeat the words. Students repeat after you and act out word.
· Then, let students act out different sports and the other students should guess what that is. They should respond with the German word (charades).
D. “Ich spiele gern …/Ich spiele nicht gern …” einführen + Unterschriften-Aktivität (10-15 min)
· Introduce “Ich spiele gern … / Ich spiele nicht gern …“ by giving a few examples.
· Let students give examples as well. Write expression on the blackboard and then give students a handout where they have to write down what they like to play.
· This also contains the other structure “Mein/e __________ spielt gern. Here they could tell what their family members like to play.
· Have students fill in the blank under “Spielst du gern?” Then they have to find someone who likes to do something they just wrote on the handout and let him/her give the signature. Make sure they know how to ask and answer the question: Spielst du gern ___? And Ich spiele gern _____.
· Introduce the activity by giving examples. So go around the class and ask if someone likes to play “Gitarre” and then let him/her sign.
E. Aktivität
· Have students draw a picture of their favourite hobby on construction paper and then label it with the sentence: “Mein Lieblingshobby ist ____________.”
F. Aufräumen und Je Öfter Lied singen (2 min)
