1. Form a group of not more than 5 classmates.

In order to produce a good assignment, you are highly recommended to read the corresponding chapter in the textbook; my lecture slides as well as the notes supplemented on my web site, and related information from other sources. You should be able to associate the content of my lecture, notes and textbook, with the real life examples and own observations, but not merely copy from those materials. Direct copy from materials will be heavily punished. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. You should also quote the reference or sources at the end of the assignment.

3. You are required to submit the assignment in the standard format provided in my website.

1. How can you define a good manager? What are the basic functions that a manager usually performs? Are these functions equally important to all level of managers?

2. Briefly discuss how the internal and external environment affects a business operation? Give an example to demonstrate your answer.

3. What is business ethics? Give some examples of possible unethical practices of an organization. How can a manager manage business ethics effectively in a company? Illustrate with appropriate examples.

4. Is strong culture necessarily good? Are there any effective ways to develop an organizational culture?

5. How many ways can a domestic company take its business global? Discuss the risks level involved in each of these methods.

6. Why delegation is an important task to a manger? How to delegate effectively?

7. What is social responsibility? A lot of arguments suggesting that the process of developing social responsibility inevitably involves high costs and thus may erode the profits of an organization. Therefore social responsibility is the luxury game only for large organization. What is your opinion?
