Allied Health, Cardiovascular Sonography Mission Statement (6-2012)

The Associate of Applied Science Degree program in Cardiovascular Sonography supports the College’s mission and provides comprehensive educational experiences that enable qualified students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to be eligible for certification and employment as echocardiographers or vascular technologists.

Allied Health, Dental Hygiene Mission Statement

The Dental Hygiene program is dedicated to providing comprehensive educational experiences that enable dental hygiene graduates to enhance the health of the public through the provision of patient-centered, comprehensive dental hygiene care that requires the application of scientific and technical knowledge, clinical skills, evidence-based decision making and critical thinking skills, and professional behaviors and ethics. The Program also provides an educational environment that cultivates a commitment to community service and lifelong learning.

Allied Health, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Mission Statement (6-2012)

Allied Health, Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic) Mission Statement

The mission of the Delaware Tech Paramedic Program is to prepare competent entry-level Emergency Medical Technician –Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains that will serve the needs of the citizens of the State of Delaware.

Allied Health, EMT Paramedic Certificate Mission Statement (9-2016)

The mission of the Delaware Tech Paramedic Certificate program is to prepare competent entry-level paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to serve the needs of the citizens in the State of Delaware.

Allied Health, Health Information Management Mission Statement (4-2011)

The Health Information Management Program is dedicated to providing comprehensive educational experiences that enable qualified students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to graduate, and take the national qualifying exam to become registered health information technologists (RHIT) and successfully function within diverse practice environments (e.g. hospitals, physician offices, insurance companies, electronic health record (HER) vendors).

Allied Health, Histotechnician Program Mission Statement

The Histotechnology Program provides comprehensive educational experiences that enable qualified students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to be eligible for the ASCP certification and for employment as histology technicians.

Allied Health, Medical Assistant Program Mission Statement

The Medical Assistant Program provides comprehensive educational experiences which enable qualified students to acquire the concepts, skills, and behaviors needed to become nationally certified and successfully function as medical assistants in the community. The program consists of office systems (administrative) and applied science (clinical) courses and includes a clinical affiliation.

The Medical Coding Studies program is dedicated to providing comprehensive educational experiences that enable qualified students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to graduate and successfully function as medical coding professionals within diverse practice environments (e.g., hospitals, physician offices, and insurance companies).

The mission of the Medical Laboratory Technology program is to educate students to achieve the knowledge, behaviors and skills necessary to become eligible for national certification and to be successfully employed as a certified medical laboratory technician.

Allied Health, Nuclear Medicine Program Mission Statement

The DTCC Nuclear Medicine Program supported by Christiana Care Health System provides a comprehensive program to students, who upon graduation are prepared to competently perform with the knowledge, skills and behaviors as an entry level technologist and are eligible for national certification through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board and/or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Allied Health, Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Mission Statement

The Occupational Therapy Assistant Program provides a comprehensive educational program, consisting of experiential learning and clinical opportunities that enables qualified student to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to be eligible for national certification, licensure, and employment as a COTA.

The Delaware Technical and Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Program provides a comprehensive educational program to enable qualified students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors necessary to be eligible for licensure and successful employment as a physical therapist assistant. The program is dedicated to the continued professional development of its graduates and the clinical community.

The Radiologic Program provides comprehensive, educational experiences that enable qualified students to acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviors necessary to be eligible for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and employment as radiologic technologists.

The Respiratory Care Program provides comprehensive educational experiences that enable qualified students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to be eligible for certification and employment as respiratory therapists.

Allied Health, Surgical Technology Program Mission Statement (4-2011)

The mission of the Surgical Technology program is to provide a comprehensive educational program in order to prepare competent entry-level surgical technologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to be eligible for national certification and employment.

Allied Health, Veterinary Technology Program Mission Statement

The Veterinary Technology program provides comprehensive educational experiences that enable qualified students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to be eligible for the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE), licensure, and employment as veterinary technicians.

Applied Agriculture – Agribusiness Management Mission Statement (7-2016)

The mission of the Agribusiness Management program is to provide students with opportunities to apply hands-on training within business practices. Through training opportunities available in production agriculture farm practice and other business-related opportunities, students will develop skills in leadership training, small business management, and organizational training. Students will also have opportunities to work with diverse populations, market products, identify customers, and improve customer relations. The program prepares students to be competitive in the workforce with skills and abilities to meet the demands of an ever-changing environment.

Applied Agriculture – Landscape and Ornamental Horticulture (7-2016)

The mission of the Landscape Ornamental Horticulture program is to provide students with opportunities to apply hands-on training within areas of study that include greenhouse operations, plant materials, irrigation, turf management applications, pesticide licenses, equipment management, and safe operation techniques. Students will practice landscape construction techniques both on campus and at other facilities. The program prepares students to be competitive in the workforce with leadership skills and abilities to meet the demands of an ever-changing environment.

Applied Agriculture – Production Agriculture (7-2016)

The mission of the Production Agriculture program is to provide students with opportunities to apply hands-on training within areas of study that include vegetable production, hydroponics production, agronomics crop production, pesticide training, Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) certification, Good Handling Practices (GHP) certification, agribusiness applications, plant science techniques, soil science, and equipment operation. Students will practice farming techniques on the campus farm. The program prepares students to be competitive in the workforce with leadership skills and abilities to meet the demands of an ever-changing environment.

Applied Agriculture – Turf Management (7-2016)

The mission of the Turf Management program is to provide students with opportunities to apply hands-on training within areas of study that include greenhouse operations, plant materials, irrigation, turf management applications, pesticide licenses, equipment management, and safe operation techniques. Students will gain valuable experience working on the college turfgrass laboratory and through cooperative work experiences in their field of study. The program prepares students to be competitive in the workforce with leadership skills and abilities to meet the demands of an ever-changing environment.

Architectural Engineering Technology Program Mission Statement

The Architectural Engineering Technology provides a curriculum of study which includes job entry-level fundamentals in architectural, structural, and building engineering design, as well as building construction methods, cost estimating and business construction specifications. The basic architectural design and related engineering courses are well integrated with applied practice aimed at giving an individual simulated on-the-job experience before graduation.

Associate Degree Nursing Mission Statement

The mission of the Nursing Department is to prepare students for state licensure eligibility and to obtain entry level positions with an opportunity for career advancement.

Automotive Technology Mission Statement

The Automotive Technology Department of Delaware Technical Community College offers a curriculum that is current in technology and career-orientated, thus enabling Delaware Tech to provide the automotive business and industry with job-ready graduates. The Automotive Technology Department is dedicated to the continuous education required to stay current with the latest changes in automotive technology. The Automotive Technology Department will provide every student with educational and training programs in all areas of Automotive Service Excellence. These areas will include knowledge of diagnostic and repair skills necessary for competent job performance and an awareness of career opportunities available in the automotive industry.

Aviation Maintenance Technology Mission Statement (2-2015)

The Aviation Maintenance Technology program was developed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be a professional airframe and powerplant maintenance technician. Upon completion of the program, the student will be prepared to take the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification tests to earn an FAA airframe and powerplant mechanic license (A&P license).

Aviation Maintenance Technology, General/Airframe Maintenance Technology Certificate Mission Statement (2-2015)

The Airframe Maintenance Technology program was developed to instruct an applicant in the theory of aircraft maintenance and develop the hands on skills necessary to become an airframe maintenance technician. The program also prepares the student to take the Federal Aviation Administration Mechanic Certificate exams for an Airframe Mechanic rating.

Aviation Maintenance Technology – General/Powerplant Maintenance Technology Mission Statement (2-2015)

The Powerplant Maintenance Technology program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to be a professional powerplant maintenance technician. Upon completion of the program, the student will be prepared to take the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification tests and earn an FAA powerplant license.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Mission Statement (5-2016)

The mission of the RN to BSN program is to provide registered nurses with a baccalaureate nursing education that is relevant and responsive to labor market and community needs. Baccalaureate education prepares professional nurses with a broad knowledge base for practice with expanded roles encompassing advocacy, leadership, and scholarship.

Biotechnology Program Mission Statement (7-2012)

The Biotechnology program prepares students for employment in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and related industries and laboratories. A theoretical and practical education is provided in various subjects including microbiology, biotechnology and chemistry. The curriculum is developed with input from local employers to meet the demands for skilled laboratory technicians.

Biological Sciences Program Mission Statement (7-2012)

The Biological Sciences program prepares students for more advanced study in disciplines in which theoretical and practical knowledge of microbiology, biotechnology, and chemistry is essential for success. This curriculum prepares highly skilled and knowledgeable graduates for transfer to senior institutions in pursuit of scientific or professional degrees.


Business Administration Transfer (4-2014)

The Business Administration Transfer (BAT) option’s mission is to provide foundational coursework necessary for successful transfer to four-year colleges of business accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This option will provide the high-level preparation in general education needed for upper-level coursework at these universities, as well as the necessary foundation for a business education.

Business – Accounting Mission Statement (8-2015)

The Accounting program provides comprehensive educational experiences that enable students to acquire critical knowledge of principles for success in business. Accounting students develop an in-depth knowledge of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, analyze data to process information for decision-making using job costing systems, apply tax laws to the preparation of tax returns and to tax plans, integrate professional, ethical, and legal standards, and employ various theories of management. This program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in auditing, accounting, and tax services or for transfer to four-year institutions.

Business – General Business Mission Statement (8-2015)

The mission of the General Business program is to promote a quality educational experience in the field of business. Serving a diverse population, the program seeks to provide students with coursework that combines practical applications with the latest business practices and procedures to promote content competency as well as growth in the areas of critical thinking and communication skills. This program is designed to meet the needs of students who are entering a career in the field of business or for transfer to four-year institutions.

The Hospitality Management program provides an exceptional education in the field of hospitality management. By offering coursework with practical applications using up-to-date industry standards, processes, applications, and techniques, students are provided with a relevant curriculum that addresses current trends in the hospitality industry. Combining academic review with practical applications, this program is designed to meet the needs of students who are entering a career in the field of hospitality management or for transfer to four-year institutions.

The Management program provides comprehensive educational experiences consisting of opportunities designed to develop leaders skilled in the art of managing a business environment. Through industrial partnerships, the practices of managing organizations, people, systems, and processes are reviewed. This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and values for successful entry into the field of management or for transfer to four-year institutions.

Business – Marketing Mission Statement (8-2015)

The Marketing program provides comprehensive educational experiences to enable students to acquire critical knowledge of principles for success in the business industry. Marketing students develop an in-depth knowledge of identifying, attracting, and retaining customers; customer relations through creative communication and customer management systems; and ethical decision making in diverse environments. Through a combination of practical applications and academic review, students are prepared for entry-level positions in the field of marketing or for transfer to four-year institutions.
