This round encompasses all sorts of different types of games. Videogames, board games, game shows, card games, and more will be heard in this packet.
1) It featured numerous guest stars including Jerry Springer and Coolio, while guest fields of specialty included Hip Hop, Michael Jackson, Playboy, and Planet of the Apes. Howard Stern played a version of it on his radio program when host Mark Cronin came on to promote the show, with Artie Lange focusing on sports and Howard playing the Superman specialist. FTP, identify this game show where contestants challenged one of four namesake experts in a pop culture showdown, a Comedy Central production.

2) Recent excavations have failed to shed light on the true purpose of the outposts in this location. The PC version placed a Flamethrower in the cave, and the remade version added sniper ammo to the rock formation in front of the bases. Players can easily get on top of the original level by sliding up the walls in a Ghost. 3) An early checkered version of it was invented in 1861 by Milton Bradley, and his namesake company first published the modern version almost a century later in 1960. The 1992 version introduced tiles that greatly affected the outcome of the game, as one could climb Mt. Everest or cure the common cold and earn extra money upon retirement. Originally featuring a teetotum instead of a die, it has since changed to a wheel with ten numbers on it. FTP, identify this game simulating the real world, in which you can buy a house, get a job or go to college, have kids and drive around the board in a plastic car.

4) His namesake NES math game, his second original game, implies that he has a sister. His later appearances include being a secret power character in the N64 version of Mario Tennis, but he was not in the Gamecube version. He appeared in Super Mario Kart, but he once again disappeared from later entries in the series. 5) While the 2003 NBC revival of it failed after 3 episodes, Univision’s version of the show, Trato Hecho, lasted 11 whole months in 2005. Analysis of the results on its final round proved that people who changed their original choice are indeed less likely to choose a zonk such as a giant donut or a wild animal. FTP, identify this game show whose first version lasted from 1963 to 1977 on NBC, where members of the studio audience got a chance to do the title action with host Monty Hall.

6) In a Jack Chick tract, Marcie commits suicide because her character in a parody of this game dies. The magic system of it was influenced by the Dying Earth stories and novels of Jack Vance. It was originally published by Tactical Studies Rules, and the current edition is published by Wizards of the Coast and was written by Monte Cook, Jonathan Tweet and Skip Williams. Vin Diesel and Stephen Colbert have both stated publicly that they play this game originally designed by Dave Arneson and the author of the Gord the Rogue Adventures. 7) An entire episode of Starcade was dedicated to this game, and it proved so popular than many of its cabinets broke from overuse. NES sequels were not able to replicate the graphics of the arcade version, but later sequels including a full 3D version and a collection including its follow up, Space Ace, have been released recently. Its low budget led the animators to use Playboy models for Daphne, the princess captured by the dragon Singe in, FTP, this fully animated 1983 game staring Dirk the Daring, notable for its Laser Disc format.

8) Although it only aired nine episodes, a contestant was able to claim its maximum 250,000 dollar prize. Contestants had to face a rigorous physical examination before going on air, as they would be subject to stresses such as facing an alligator in one of two heartstopper events designed to raise the contestant’s heart rate above the redline level which would reduce the money earned. This is, FTP, what 2002 ABC game show that strapped contestants into a namesake piece of furniture, also the nickname of a form of capital punishment.

9) It was probably invented in Uruguay in the early twentieth century, after which it spread to Argentina and the United States, gaining great popularity in the 1950s. It is different from other Rummy-style games in that having more cards in your hand is generally a good thing, and that when one wants to take a card from the discard pile, the player must take the entire stack. FTP, identify this matching card game in which making one of the namesake seven-card melds results in a large bonus.

10) It includes such passages as the U.S. Constitution and Washington Irving’s Sleepy Hollow. Individual scores vary from walking speed to rocket speed, while the lowest overall score is a 70 and the highest is a 20. The game is played by turning the system sideways which allows letters and numbers to be easily drawn in modes such as Triangle Math and Syllable Count. 11) He formed a band called Avant-Garde in the 1960s, and their most famous song, Naturally Stoned, became the name of a reality show about him. He promotes Holiday Island, Arkansas in a series of infomercials, and he also plays for the charity Safe Passage on the World Poker Tour Hollywood Home Games. But he is most famous as, FTP, the host of a plethora of game shows including The Love Connection, The Dating Game, Greed, the early days of Wheel of Fortune, and, most recently, Lingo.

12) There is a namesake United States Tournament Series which will ‘sanction’ events run by a Regional Event Coordinator for a fee of $20 per participant. Their website also provides a four step process to ensure that the ball is properly constructed. In a tie-breaker each player is allowed ten consecutive attempts to score from the middle of the field. Straight edges or rulers may be used to determine if the ball has crossed over the edge of the field to score a goal. Much like its namesake, it includes field goals, and 2-point conversions. 13) It spurred the early growth of USA Today since the paper reported the more detailed information required to score this activity than competing papers. Daniel Okrent’s creation of the game played by fellow journalists in the Rotisserie Francaise restaurant in 1980 was the catalyst for its modern popularity, while an early version of the game began in the ‘60s with publications by Strat-O-Matic. In the keeper version of this activity the composition of teams are not changed from season to season. 14) By holding the joystick down and pressing every button on the machine it was possible to play a Battlezone-esque game even in the attract mode. Inputting certain initials on various birthdays unlocked characters such as Godzilla and Raiden from Mortal Kombat. It was one of the first games to feature digital likenesses of its players, although Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan were conspicuously absent. 15) It won the 2002 Origins Award for Best Traditional Card Game of 2001, and has spawned 6 spinoffs and four expansions to the original game. The goal of this game is to level up your character to 10 before anyone else, and this can occur through defeating monsters, selling items and divine intervention. Everyone starts as a “Level 1 Human with no class,” and gameplay consists of kicking down the door, looking for danger and looting the room. 16) Created by Anthony E. Pratt, it was originally published by Waddingtons in the United Kingdom in 1948. Both a movie and a musical have been based on it; the former features Martin Mull, Christopher Lloyd and Tim Curry; the latter includes the participation of three audience members to help decide the outcome of the show and the delivery of some of Mr. Boddy’s lines. There are 324 possible outcomes, and enough rope has been included in it to encircle the earth. 17) If the object in it gets stuck in the middle of operation, the host uses his namesake stick to dislodge it from the stuck position. Its name, as told in 1983 when it was first used, comes from the sound it makes while operating. There is approximately a 0.05 percent chance of winning the top prize of $50,000, and the highest regular game winnings was $23,000. The number of attempts that a player gets at the board is determined by how many correct small prize guesses he makes in, FTP, this game where a chip is dropped down a series of pegs, one of the most popular pricing games on The Price Is Right.

18) Vehicles include variations on The General Lee and the A-Team Van, as well as more unconventional vehicles like barges and the missile-firing Ballista motorcycle. The final rank of You Can Stop Now was nearly unobtainable due to the difficulty in earning Platinum medals after completing the outer space levels. The infamous Diamond Sands level puts you in the sideswiping Backlash while other levels saw the player operating mech suits like the J-Bomb and a bulldozer called the Ramdozer. 19) The original version appeared on BBC Radio 4, but it was subsequently moved to the television channel 4 where it would be introduced by an animation of silhouetted actors. 20) The second part of the final round gave winners the opportunity to go double or nothing on their winnings by answering one question based on their favorite subject. The first round was similar to Jeopardy in style, but contestants answer questions with “you are” rather than “who is”, and question values were worth negative amounts resulting in the player with the highest amount remaining at the end of the round eliminated. 21) The longest game of it lasted for seventy straight days and it was originally rejected because it had fifty-two fundamental design flaws. 22) It was the first major side-game of the series it is found in to provide players with in-depth interaction with minor characters. After a coin flip to decide who goes first, players alternate turns by placing a single card on an unoccupied square. If the numbers of the edges of the placed card are higher than numbers on the edges of neighboring cards, those cards are captured. It was not entirely useless since players could turn cards into items with the right Guardian Force abilities. FTP, identify this game played on a 3x3 square in Final Fantasy VIII.

In the 2003 GameFAQs Character Battle Contest he lost to Cloud Strife, but he would later win that site’s Best Villian Contest in 2005. His English voice is currently provided by George Newbern, a much less controversial figure than Lance Bass who voiced him in the first Kingdom Hearts.
